Soon to be Master Mason CoraB and soon to be Brother Leonard
Thinking of you both on this day. All the best to each of you. The openness with which each of you have shared your journeys with us all has been a source of delight to me.

Thank you gipsyrose for those very thoughtful comments. Tomorrow is a very big day for Cora, Michelle and myself. But it is also a big day for Karen as she too is becoming a Master Mason Saturday 13th October. And for those of you who don't know her Bronagh is also being balloted tomorrow in the same lodge as myself and Michelle. Michelle is my wife, by the way Yes, a big day, indeed for all five of us!

Well, you have all got a very famous anniversary occuring tomorrow, that of the Betrayal of the Knights Templar in 1307 at the hands of Philip the Fair of France and Pope Clement.
As one who is a Masonic Knight Templar is has special resonance that a Brother who is a dear friend is being Raised and I will be there, and that Leo, Michelle and Bronagh are to be Ballotted for Initiation on that day.

Bon chance to one and all for the weekend, as an aside on the KT's did anyone see this story on the beeb? news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7029513.stmThe Vatican is to publish a book which is expected to shed light on the demise of the Knights Templar, a Christian military order from the Middle Ages. The book is based on a document known as the Chinon parchment, found in the Vatican Secret Archives six years ago after years of being incorrectly filed. The document is a record of the heresy hearings of the Templars before Pope Clement V in the 14th Century. The official who found the paper says it exonerates the knights entirely.

I'm breaking radio silence long enough to say: -- Thank you Bro. Gipsy -- Good luck Bro. Cora on your raising -- Good luck soon-to-be Bros. Leo, Michelle and Bronagh on your balloting. I'm to be raised Oct. 21. So I'll not be far behind. ;D Back under Ma'at's table now

Have a most wonderful day with Cora Steve. I know she's really looking forward to this and having you there to experience/witness/support, etc is very important to her. Karen, forgive me I thought you were being raised today as well. With so much happening is it any wonder I am a little confused Thanks Bill for the lovely red tribute to today. Not sure of its significance but it is a colour that stand out! Myself, Michelle and Bronagh have to wait until about 4 pm before our ballot is known and hopefully we will be told the result not too long after that. I found out last night that there is also a 1st degree initiation held in our (God willing) lodge to be today, as well

Seems somewhat appropriate to see this item in the news today. "The Vatican has published secret archive documents about the trial of the Knights Templar, including a long-lost parchment that shows that Pope Clement V initially absolved the medieval Christian order from accusations of heresy...." www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6991996,00.html

I am delighted to say that Cora's Third went very well indeed! I will leave her to tell you all about it, I had a small walk-on part.
Now, as Bro Kipling once said "What answer from the North?"
Best wishes.

CoraB - Great Stuff - How Many Years before you become RWM Thanks Whistler. ;D I don't even want to contemplate that right now, although indications are that it may be a lot faster than is the norm! I should be able to elaborate on that by the end of October. h.g.w., Cora

CoraB - Great Stuff - How Many Years before you become RWM Thanks Whistler. ;D I don't even want to contemplate that right now, although indications are that it may be a lot faster than is the norm! I should be able to elaborate on that by the end of October. h.g.w., Cora Cora I truly hope that is would be at least Seven Years, which would give you the rest of this Lodge year in the columns, then a year in each of the offices from IG all the way to the Chair. Each office has a special gift to its holder - these gifts help to grow a Freemason - none of the offices are without importance and each prepare the Freemason for the next step. A year in each office is not long you will often find you are just getting the hang of it and your year is over and on to the next challenge. If a lodge is short of new people to climb that ladder it is better they recycle senior members to enable the new Freemason to gain the proper experience. You will find that the 2 - 3 years it takes for a Co-mason to become a Master Freemason then if possible another 7 years to become Master of their Lodge is truly reflected by the Wisdom dispensed by the Master in the chair. Once again Congratulations

Cora I truly hope that is would be at least Seven Years, which would give you the rest of this Lodge year in the columns, then a year in each of the offices from IG all the way to the Chair. As would I, Whistler, and in my mother lodge that will probably be the case. However, being a petitioner in the formation of a Craft Triangle, things will necessarily progress faster there. In principle I would agree with that, however from practical experience I can tell you 'recycling' is not always the preferred option. I think you guys do things differently from us. In the British Federation the statutory minimum between EA-MM is 12 months. I don't know of anyone who actually has progressed that fast. It's been 18 months for me. h.g.w., Cora

Cora The way it works with us After Initiation the EA must attend 5 Meetings - not including the initiation. After the five meetings there is usually another meeting before the passing. After the Passing the FC must attend 7 Meetings not including the passing. Then there is usually another meeting before the raising. We have only 10 Meetings a year and of course an Initiation takes priority so if one should clash with a passing or raising, or the Freemason misses a night for any reason - It is easy to take at two years of more to become a MM
