Thanks Bro Giovanni. I have only had a quick look but have already learned from this wonderful site. Why can't UGLE etc have something like this instead of chaff about Car Rallies and Golf Tournaments and other irrelevant guff!

Taylorsman
Something that I also have pondered. The differences between not only UGLE and non-UGLE-amity, but between UGLE and UGLE-amity can be quite stark.
Perhaps, and I mean absoluterly no disrespect at all in this, but perhaps UGLE have tried so hard to please everyone, that they have diluted the message to such a degree that the essence has become a little lost; and people have become so used to the darkness that this is now all that they can see? Or perhaps by focusing on physical stuff like money and honours, the physical darkness has taken presedence over the spiritual light, theory and practice and all that? Or perhaps it is UGLEs opinion that Freemasonry is no more than an exclusive social club, and the inner work is mumbo jumbo? Or perhaps the conspiracy theorists are correct when they say that UGLE is a front to keep the masses happy, while the "real" Freemasonry takes place elsewhere?
Why not ask them? Or would that be against protocol?

Brethren, I understand you want thing be changed in UGLE. I’ll give you a clue: the Union’s chain. The Brethren must put themselves in circle. Right arm over left arm, so that the right hand of each Bro. shall grip the left hand of his neighbour (see picture). No gloves at all. Feet: the heels of each Bro must be united, whilst the points opened to form a square: V V V Then the distance must be reduced, so that the right point of one’s foot shall touch the neighbour’s left one. VVV Once Bren. are ready, the WM shall say for which purpose the chain is done, e. g.: “To ameliorate UGLE’s situation”. I suggest a more specific intention: “to work in a better way, reading and discussing papers”. The chin of each Bro. must be then reclined onto the chest, toward the heart, so to ideally join mind and heart, rationality and feelings. In absolute silence the Bren must concentrate themselves on the intention. After a short while, when the WM feels that it is time, he and all the Bren. shall shake 3 times their arms. After the Bren. shall release their hands and come back to their seats. It works. Guaranteed.

I add that it's better if the Bren. leave their seats and stay in the middle of the Temple, around the chequered pavement

There may be a bit of trying to please everyone and pleasing no one in the end, Stewart.

The only way to please everyone, is to help each and every individual find a way to take a positive step forward in their own development. This is straightforward to do at the level of the heart, but not at the level of the material.
Just as you have it within you to take a further step forward, so can UGLE, and all of the other fraternities, and indeed every individual and organisation on this planet. All that it takes is the wisdom to see past the veils, and the courage to take the steps.

I THINK CHAINS OCCUR IN OTHER oRDERS. as one of the forumites here might say a chain should be formed only by individuals with the same state of mind in order to get a result (?what result).
So if one Mason is there for charity, one for the drink, one for the camaraderie, the other for showing off, the next for the ritual, and the one left for personal development what is the point really?

Totally agreed, Bro. Atarnaris.
In that case, it's better to give up

The seventh is the Grand Officer who is there to do something that he'd rather not be doing, as he would prefer to be home with a cuppa....

Imagine, for a moment:-
1. The heart tremmors that the following could cause certain powers that be as they read this.
2. If the members of this forum who are esoterically inclined formed an internet chain, and focused their energies through the net on a specific issue. Perhaps with a mental order, of a more experienced, less experienced, more experienced, less experienced. While I have never tried this, it would I am sure be possible to achieve if sufficient will was put into it.
Fear not I would not recommend it, just idle musings. Proper tyling, and support for those who needed it, would be somewhat tricky, and it is bound to break some masonic obligation somewhere.
Gives pause for thought though.

One funny thing about the internet, is that it is an easily understandable energy flow. People can visualise information flowing around the world, even if they don't understand how it works. And with all energy flows they can be quite influential. It is just a matter of connecting to them. But with all things there are huge issues of responsibility. I wonder how many groups there are in the world who try to use the internet as an energy conduit? Conceptually it is no different to UGLEs Pro GM standing up at the Conerstone conference and trying to reach the hearts of the members present.
