Greetings Russel, This is interesting, thanks. Gg For myself, I prefer number and intent. In Masonic terms it is called ascending Jacob's ladder Cheers Russell 7 x 13 = 91 and 13 'triangulated' i.e., 13°°° = 91 Do these numbers mean anything to you? Regards, Sid

Sid Here is a bit on the tomb of Rosenkreutz. It has 7 sides and each side has 40 squares. www.esotericgoldendawn.com/tradition_fr17.htm91 equals the sum of the numbers 1 to 13 so there is clearly some sort of relationship. But what practical use one might make of that escapes me. Although in some senses, if there is a being whose energy is 91 then that being presumably includes within itself all the beings whose energies are from 1 to 13. Cheers Russell

Cheers Russell Studion's 'foundation' has been built upon the number 156 which is also 12 x 13 (13 x 12), and is also linked to the number 1378 which is the year of the birth of Christian Rosenkreutz. In the engraving of Studion he also has an open compass on the table which is facing the viewer. Does this have any meaning to Masons and Masonry? I did read something about it being the siggn of a Master Mason, but don't know if this is true or not. Regards, Sid

Sid
I have not pursued the GD and RC mythology so can't help you there.
For myself, I tend to enter directly into the inner worlds rather than look for clues in the numerical and symbolic systems
Cheers

I think that maybe we just need Tom Cruise to become a Mason, that would probably help us gain members i am reminded of the time when the great teacher told a woman that the water he gave would be as living water from which she would never thirst again. how many of us actually are truly quenched in spirit to the point that our lives reflect this great truth? if our lives reflected the presence of living water (spiritual fulfillment) we would have multitudes knocking down our doors to get a taste of what masonry in truth offers. the solution is not recruitment, rather refinement, of our own lives to the point that others desire what we have. when we are dead in our service to mankind we are of no value to it.

mwatkins, well put. I have long thought that it is not an issue of membership, rather of quality that should concern Brn. If we persevere with our Craft, thus living by example, others will eventually want what we have. If they don't, would we want them!!
Cheers, hubert.

Replying to Staffs back in January: "Are you then of the opinion that in male only Masonry that there are 2 groups in the lodge"
Like the Tralfamadoreans in Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse Five, who assert that there are no less than seven sexes on Planet Earth, all but two invisible to humans, I am confirmed though irrational in my casual conviction that there are certainly two groups in male-only Lodges, but very likely at least seven; only their motives and motivations are invisible to the rest of us - excepting possibly each other.

While Vonnegut was perhaps a bit tongue in cheek, the basic proposition is probably pretty right. For example, I have observed direct interference by deceased ancestors in relationships between incarnated couples.
The human being is more complex than appears. This is sometimes expressed as the human being a lodge in him or herself
Cheers

Since the three columns in a Lodge are specifically called Wisdom, Strength and Beauty - or equated with them - and those are the names given to the three pillars on the tree of life, I would think that even the very early freemasons had some interest in the Kabbalah.

Since the three columns in a Lodge are specifically called Wisdom, Strength and Beauty - or equated with them - and those are the names given to the three pillars on the tree of life, I would think that even the very early freemasons had some interest in the Kabbalah. im glad some one brought that up. kabballah and freemasonic paralells really get my juices running. i think there are lots of hints that show just how the Tree of Life is the key to the blue lodge. although, in ToL terms, the 3 pillars are usually referred to as " The Pillar of Severity - left handed pillar, The Pillar of Equilibrium - the pillar right in the center; often referred to as the mystics path or path of the mystic archer, and then the Pillar of Mercy - the right handed pillar " the left pillar obviously the sacred feminine or passive/negative pillar , the middle pillar could be called the androgynous pillar so called or the pillar of the void, and the right pillar then has to be male potency or active/positive pillar . now this has given me alot of understanding as to what kind of cosmic energies or deities we are working with or invoking during the 2 little degrees that ive undertaken so far, think of the what foot you stepped with first in your EA degree, then think of the one you stepped with first in your FC degree, i find this pretty fascinating. ofcourse you must remember though, that when youre working objectively or macro-cosmically on the ToL, the tree is displayed the way it is most commonly displayed, but when youre working subjectively or micro-cosmically you cant forget that you must flip the ToL in reverse so the pillars are switched to the opposite sides, a common fact not known but by many who you think would know, so you dont get your understanding messed up. ofcourse, each sephirah even if its on the left hand passive pillar, it is on the opposite side of polarity to the sephirah just before it or the one it emanated from, so the left hand pillar DOES contain active qualities. it does help to look at the passive and negative pillars as dynamic and static energies/forces i think. also, if you look at a layout of the ToL and the general positioning of each sephirah, then compare where those sephirahs are placed compared to where the officers chairs in lodge are placed, you might get a little surprise ! ofcourse depending on what lodge working you use there may be little variances.

It is interesting if you over lay the tree of life on the pillars. The Ain Soph would be the eye of Providance and one could work through the Sephiriot all the way to the level. The ground floor could also be compared to Malkuth, the kingdom of man. There is much similarity in exisisting Freemasonry but I agree many lodges shy away from the esoteric ideas.

As I've said before elsewhere, all the important indicators of the Kabbalah are present in Freemasonry, if you want to see them. It's just that most people wouldn't respond to the Kabbalah in a Masonic setting, so it's all been packed away out of sight so no-one trips over it.

Hmmmmm. This might be an excellent thead in which to post this: Anatomy of SecretsThere's Freemasonry and Kabbalah and all sorts of other stuff in here. There's also something of a mystery. This first came to my attention when it was posted at theThreePillars. So far, we've not been able to figure out from wence it came. Perhaps someone here knows?

Hmmmmm. It says thread does not exist. But I take that to mean it's been posted here? If so, I apologize for the duplicate. I've not had a chance to look around very much.

I'm getting the same thing. One of our more technically gifted mods (not me, obviously ) will no doubt be able to explain things.

Excuse me, I don't know why it doesn't work.
Karen, the thread was right, The Anatomy of Secrets. That I meant.
