Think of the 3,4,5 Triangle or Pythagoras's right angle trianle, the symbol that the RWIPM wears as his jewel.
If you Know how to cut a 3 dimensional cube, corner to corner,IE diagonally forming the hypotenuse of an isometric triangle (2 equal sides), you will find that this done on ALL outside faces of the Cube leaves you with a perfect tetrahedron in the centre of the cube. A tetrahedron is a four sided solid having four identical faces of equalateral triangles ( 3 equal sides & corner angles) Look it up in Elizabeth Haich's book Initiation - reccommended reading for Masons.

And Then: The way a Triangle points determines its meaning. If upwards, it means the male elemenet and divine fire; downwards the female and the waters of Matter.

The explanation of the RA Jewel will also be of interest in this topic.

Apologies if this is old hat, but I found it an easier-to-understand-than-usual version... www.ind-tech.demon.co.uk/Adam's_Quest/Freemasonry/The_Freemason_Arch_Jewel.html

Link seemed to be broken Agent J, perhaps too long? It does not work if clicked on but if one highlights then copies and pastes into one's browser it will then load.

Not at all, Lee. In Mark, RAM, RA and many of the Higher Degrees the Triangle is of more significance than the Square.

i have noticed that the way we are prepared for 1st and 2 nd degree ceremonies also is threefold and if the arm breast and heel are joined in a line another triangle is made .
Is this just me or am i looking too deep ??
I dont know yet about the third would this be a double triamgle by any chance ??

The Hellenic letter Delta has as its written symbol a triangle such as this found in HRA. Also there were 3 cities of importance in ancient Greece namely Delphi, Dodoni and Delos More of that here: www.geocities.com/sfetel/en/geometry.htm#iso1Now my prediction: Ruff Ashlar will come on and do his thing. Watch it happen!

My ears are burning. How can I fail to respond?
I think the significant thing about the triangle, in Freemasonry in general, and Royal Arch in particular, relates more specifically to what Pythagoras has to say concerning it as a thing of geometric perfection, etc. Other observations, such as the prophetic qualities of Delphi and Delos, while interesting in themselves, don't convince me, really. More persuasive, I think, might be arguments relating the initial to Dionysos, an Eastern deity (possibly Krishna originally), the forepart of whose name may share etymology with Latin deus and Greek theos.
The letter Delta is, of course, from the Phoenician letter Dalet, and preserves its original form: its meaning is Door, the triangular tent-door of a desert-dwelling people. A symbolic door cannot fail to have meaning in the context of the HRA: given that there was another door surmounted by a triangle in the Second, and that it contained the initial letter Yod.

Now, how did I know? Ruff Ashlar, the original advocate of the Phoenician heritage!
