They quite common and we've all had 'em to some degree or the other. My question is Do they have a meaning? How do we interpret them? Where do they come from? and what is there purpose?
Yes, most of them do have a meaning.
I tend to think that we need to interpret them metaphorically, thats the only way I see them making sense. I've been having really arb dreams about people from my past, alternate youth scenarios, possibilities for the future. In one dream the archangel Gabriel even came to me and took me to meet someone of a certain name, I met that person a few days later, her name was Sam, she was my rehab councellor , yes I was in rehab ;D
Some say dreams come from your subconciousness mind, I think they partly right, but where I think they wrong is whom the credit of the subconciousness mind goes to. The subconciousness mind absorbs information almost at random without certain cues, and whoever controls that should take the credit. But how can people I've never met exist in my subconciousness mind and how can information from my past predict my future without knowing the people, places or things in it.
I think the purpose of dreams and visions is to guide us in a way that we can understand and make useful in our lives.
Your turn ....

Playto
I have had a dream about particular people I knew doing unusual things and the next day most of the dream came true. But the dream did have some symbolic as well as literal material
And I have been in a group of about 24 people most of whom had met each other for the first time that afternoon all of whom either dreamed of or were dreamed about by someone in the group. There was 100% coverage
Thus in my experience the same dream may have both literal and symbolic meaning and may be predictive as well.
Cheers

Dreams . . . My experience is that most of them are just the critter (our mortal bit, which includes the brain) rambling, trying to puzzle thru a few things or (in the case of those Cabana boy dreams ;D ) just having a good time. But there are other . . . dreams . . . as well. I have them on a fairly regular basis. I've come to conclude I have these dreams when other things are happening. And my ever-patient/enduring/puzzled critter does her best to make sense of what is happening, based on the image set with which she has to work. And so I have an image in a dream but I have to try to figure out what really happened. Which can be . . . interesting. It's been suggested I take up the study of Jung and his take on dreams. However, as strange as the dreams have been of late, I've decided not to look at his work until after I'm raised. Still, I think it may well be good advice, so I pass it on. I think the purpose of dreams and visions is to guide us in a way that we can understand and make useful in our lives. Maybe. Or, at times, trying to help one get right what one has screwed up sooooooo many times.
