Thankyou for your warm words of welcome, for the guidance that some of you have already been giving me, and for the many interesting and informative posts. It's great being able to choose a user name. I have one that really sings to my heart.

Welcome.
Your username suggests the stripping away of deception and the rending of the veils. I'm afraid we only have four in Royal Arch, not seven. That dance also suggests the martyrdom of our patron St John the Baptist, who was decapitated to please Salome.
A work of that name and dealing with that subject was of course penned by one of the greatest literary figures in Irish, English and World literature, Brother Oscar O'Flaherty Wills Wilde - who also suffered in the name of love, a love that dared not speak its name, and was visited with a kind of martyrdom, for he is certainly sainted now.
Finally, the Rose, symbol of secrecy.

While I accept that my username may suggest unveiling to some, for me it has much to do with being a traveller, a nomad, and a foreigner in a strange land, seeking beauty.

Gypsy Rose.
You will enjoy talking about the travelling community to our moderator Leo who actually runs a forum about travellers.
Good to see you here and if you post a brief description about yourself and your aims in freemasonry a(as you have on the other forun) it will give people an insight into you as a person and i know they will all be more than willing to help you fulfill those dreams and advise you.

Hi again To give you more information about me, I am living in Australia in a small town north of Melbourne. I have felt very drawn to becoming a Mason for many years. I am now exploring what options might be available to me for becoming a Mason, being a woman who lives where I do, with the commitments I have. Some of you have already generously given me contacts, including telling me about this site. So far the option I am aware of is to ask for acceptance into the Australian Federation of LDH (if that is the right way to put it). If any of you know of other options, particularly women only lodges, I would appreciate you letting me know. Thanks
Ruff Much as I appreciate the allegory, humour and cleverness of your post , I am wondering whether you would be willing to remove the line in bold for those who might find it offensive. Thank you Sharon

Hi GypsyRose,
Sadly as of last month the forum Lee mentioned it is no longer available. Long story, will explain another time.
Great to know there's someone else from a Nomadic background who has an interest in FM. Hope things go well for you.

Ah, the Rose of Sharon. Chokmah!

If that means you, Sharon, then certainly.
Strange that nowadays people are more offended by the pun on a sexual practice than on the use of a saint's name to make an off-colour joke.
Personally, it is the fact that they so easily took off a man's head, for nothing in fact, which offends me.

I see you were taught to be cautious?
I was also taught to mind my Ps and Qs; to recite the twelve times table; to raise my hand before speaking; to carry one over the next column; to close cover before striking; to say please and thankyou; to get while the getting's good; to buy my round; and always to treat a lady like a lady, even if I was not always to be a perfect gentleman.
Now I ask you, how much of all that do you think sank in? Head full of nonsense, that's been my trouble, man and boy.

Hi Ruff, I take it you are a fan of the songs of Billy Joel Ah, the Rose of Sharon. Chokmah!Ruff Much as I appreciate the allegory, humour and cleverness of your post , I am wondering whether you would be willing to remove the line in bold for those who might find it offensive. Thank you Sharon If that means you, Sharon, then certainly. Strange that nowadays people are more offended by the pun on a sexual practice than on the use of a saint's name to make an off-colour joke. Personally, it is the fact that they so easily took off a man's head, for nothing in fact, which offends me. Again the symbol of the floating head? The 'Green Man'? Floating head of Heimdal? "The Head of Heimdal was his death" or "The Sword of Heimdal was his death". This is the highest point of initiation (sword/head/Sun i.e., like the saying in German roughly translated, "He who does not die before he dies has wasted his life." The Rose of Jericho?
