Welcome aboard, Nikola. Feel free to tell us about Freemasonry in Bulgaria and the problems regarding the different Grand Lodges, Scottish Rite etc. There are members here who know a lot more about Freemasonry than me and we are a friendly lot, no sarcasm nor locking of threads so don't be shy.

Having only just returned from a Two week Holiday in Bulgaria i believe that it will soon be an up and coming place from Freemasonry.
At present the masonic scene in Bulgaria does not appear to be too active following little success at my attempts to find out a little about masonry there both prior to and during my visit.
However, given the fact that the property there is extremely cheap at present to buy and that the cost of living is minimal and also the forthcoming joining of the EU in 2007,it may well be the case that it will be the place where retired people will settle.
No doubt there will be Masons who will wish to continue ther masonic activity and will be looking to start their own English speaking Lodges.
This could be in much the same way that Freemasonry reignited itself in Spain not too many years ago and also due to many ex pats making Spain their new home and forming new English speaking Lodges. You only have to look at the Costa Blanca news to see large number the masonic events that take place there. Costs of living and property in Spain have risen dramatically over the last few years which may be a reason for people who are retiring to look to the "new" eastern european countries for retirement and masonry.
Nikola, Personally i do not know too much about The Scottish Rite and other organisations but i have no doubt that there will be quite a few who post here who may well have the required information that you are looking for.
Any Thoughts ?

Welcome from me too Nikola
I visited Bulgaria some years ago - stayed at Sunny Beach and fell in love with Nessebar
One day my wife and I will go back but just hope that the over-commercialisation that seems to hit everywhere doesn't affect your beautiful country too much
