Penfold has contacted me and apparently proboards are having some problemswith their upgrade software and reccommend some alterations are required to assist in better performance.
The ranking stars have been deleted for now and Penfold will be making some additional changes which he suggests and will be left in his capable hands.

Penfold will be making some additional changes which he suggests and will be left in his capable hands. Staffs Well I'm convinced that Penfold is more than capable of undertaking such tasks. It's just unfortunate that Pro-Boards are experiencing these teething problems with the new upgraded forums at the moment, but from personal experience in these matters I know that such complications are to be expected. Changeovers in these circumstances rarely run smoothly so we should be too surprised with the occasional hic-up. Incidentally, Pro-Boards are not yet in a position to facilitate those interested in registering for new forums. Hopefully all problems and difficulties will be rectified in due course.

Thanks for the confidence guys! I'll be looking at stuff over the weekend, if you are unable to get into the forum and you get a different message to the usual 'too many connections' don't panic! For some of the changes it will be necessary to put the board into admin mode which makes it unavailable, I will try and keep disruption to a minimum tho. I will also be making as few changes as possible - mainly 'cos I don't want to screw up and make the forum disappear!! Please check the sticky thread on Forum Problems in the General section as I will be posting updates there through the weekend.

Fair enough Penfold. If the Stars have to go out then that's the way it goes.

OK - Sunday afternoon and all appears to be well.
I have made some very minor modifications in the 'engine room' most of which should be invisible, but some are obvious. Staff members id's now show up in a bluey colour, and they have one tiny little star against their names in the box on the left. The member categories have been reduced to two - 1-5 posts is new member, >5 = member - nice and simple.
Removing the stars seems to have made a huge difference to the performance, so they won't be returning, sorry for those who liked them.
Pro-boards is still debugging and fixing stuff from the upgrade, once everything has been completed they will let the Pro-boards community know and we'll let you know, however, for now all seems to be OK here.
If anyone does experience problems please can they make a post in this section of the forum.
Thanks for your patience and your continued support of MFoL.

I notice we have an "Invisible User" listed. Is this just someone who has hidden their email address, or their complete identity or something else?

All users have the option to be invisible - it is an option within your profiles. I've chosen to stay visible - I want people to know when I'm online.

People can usually tell when I'm online - a little matter of me never shutting up.

People can usually tell when I'm online - a little matter of me never shutting up. But it wouldn't be the same without you ruff Wayne
