I thjink that is a good idea, a number of meeting around the country; and maybe even further away?
So if the first meeting is on the 14th May in London, which is where quite a few members of the forum seem to live, which other town/city should we go for?

I am tempted to say Brighton in this instance, but I feel that is unfair, as it is in the South East and I was, and still am, of the opinion that we should rotate the venues around the country. So, we should be selecting a venue either in the West, say Bristol, or in the Midlands, Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull for June. We will need someone to act as host for each meet up, and so that they can let us know about arrangements etc. Bearing in mind we are approaching the Summer season and consequential shutdown of all meetings for holidays. Unless your lodge meets 12 times per Year! Perhaps somewhere further north, like Manchester in July. But it depends on what is available, With August as the holiday month. We could leave Brighton to say September. Remember this is only a suggestion and I hope that other forum members will assist in acting as a host in their area when the forrum comes to their town! ;D Proton

All,
Just to update you. Those interested in coming to the meeting of Meridian Lodge in the morning before the meet up, we are working an Installation and then an Initiation ceremony. So the meeting should be finished by 1.30 in time for the meet up in the Pillars opposite Freemasons` Hall.

So far so good, at this moment in time it appears that I will be available to attend Meridian and the meet-up afterwards.
I'll drop Julian a mail ref. Meridian and very much look forward to meeting those who can make it.

Have just confirmed that I now have the day off, train ticket booked, so should be in London for half nine (ish).
I have emailed GQS twice now to see if they run guided tours on a Saturday for those who either can't or do not want to attend Meridian, but so far I have not heard anything back, is anyone likely to be going there in the next week or so and be able to ask?

Michael,if you want a tour of GQS on a Saturday it is by orior arrangement only.
We have a tour of GQS on June 11th and this was booked some time ago back in January.
Due to the refurb work the guided tours on Saturdays are like finding Rocking Horse Shit.
Our tour party has to submit a list of all those visting prior to our visit and photographic ID is required on the day.
You can go on a guided tour in the week without arranging which is i believe every hour but check the UGLE website as i may be wrong.
If you want to do a tour with the Brighton Crew on June 11th then let me know and i can get the organiser to add you to the list if possible.

Many thanks for that, but it was not myself I was thinking of. I just thought it might be an idea for those not attending the lodge meeting. but it does seem like a lot of bother when it's not required during the week.

I remember going to GQS on a Saturday (while staying at Stevenage) for a tour. It cost me £10.00 where as if I had went during the week it would have cost me nothing, so the guide told me when I got there. There were about another 10/12 people on the tour as well all paying the same. Not a bad couple of hours work for the guide, or pehaps thats just London prices ;D

Brethren All,
Those interested in attending the Meridian Lodge No.4106 Meeting prior to meeting up in the pillars may wish to know that the start time is 11.30pm. This is the first installation meeting since we rescued the lodge in March. We are also doing an Initiation. I would think that proceedings will be over and done with by 2.15pm for us then to meet in the Pillars.

If I can I will try to meet up at the Pillars at about 2.30 pm then. I have a check up at the Doctor's but that is about 10.00am so I can then get a train into London about 1.00pm which give plenty of time to get the tube to Holborn. As it is usually very crowded I imagine it will be case of moving on to a more roomy pub thereafter, and perhaps somewhere that those who wish can have a bite to eat?

I am being persuaded by the wife to take her to London this Saturday and so I will be available to pop in for half an hour.
GQS is on route between two of the places that we are going so I should be able to make 2.30 with a little planning. It will make a good rest stop.
Does anyone have a problem with me bringing my wife? (she will be in a wheelchair).

I'd be delighted to see her again. The Pillars does however tend to be a too crowded pub with lots of Brethren meeting up usually before Meetings across the road so it is fair to warn you that it might be a wee bit difficult for wheechair access. Anyway, do show up as I'm sure there are many who have read what you post but would like to meet Daniel in the Lion's den.

Well, if it is too busy we will just passby, as I say it is on route.
The lions den does not worry me, quite passionate about cats, as you know. ;D

Unfortunately, my son has had a music event rescheduled for Saturday and I need to provide the transport.
So in this instance I will have to miss the meeting and hope to join the next one.
Hope you have an enjoyable one!
