Following a brilliant ceremony and initiation at Meridian - officiated over by Gnostic as DC, it was really good to meet up with Stewart and his lovely wife Sarah. A great day out to the big city.

I am sorry that I was not there, but I had been pre booked to give a lecture at a lodge that was domiciled in Bahrain, and now meets at Ashford in Kent. The meeting was to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, 20 years of which was in Bahrain, and the other 30 years in Ashford, Province of West Kent. The PGM, his Deputy, two Assistants Provincial DC, Treasurer and Secretary were there. It was quite a meeting! Anyway I trust that you all had an enjoyable time, and perhaps we will all meet up again at another time and place! Now where is the next one going to be and when? Proton

Like you Proton, I'm sorry that I missed it but London and travel on the Tube is just about the worst thing one can do if suffering from a headache. Anyway for those who did attend I'm glad it went well.
I was wondering if another venue would suit more people? London is convenient for me and others but perhaps the seaside would be more attractive, e.g. Brighton. There isn't much in Reading I'm afraid . Unfortunately the Masonic Hall is NOT in the Town itself, (it used it be but was sold of in the late 1960s). Instead it is located out in the sticks at Sindlesham near Bearwood College, (and I have to say that Centre is a rather souless and "cold" place- they don't even open the bar before Meetings!), so getting together in Reading for a Meeting on a Saturday isn't really on, and besides I am only in one Order which meets there, KTPs.
In any event, if someone does want to propose another meet up , In London or elsewhere, please keep me informed.

Hi Steve, no do not worry about that one's health is a very important matter! As I have suggested on this threat that it would be a good idea to have our forum meet ups at different locations. Perhaps we could have something in Birmingham, Coventry or Manchester in the next couple of months if it is possible and practical. Remember we are approaching the Summer season (but it does not feel like it!!) so three will be the usual closures for the summer vacation etc. Not unless there are some summer meetings to attend. I am aware that Trinity in Coventry have a special event this year a 250th perhaps perhaps Trinityman could let us know. I have suggested Brighton for September, Staffs would like to see us with our Kiss me Quick hats on and others want to do some bird watching on a certain beach! Proton

All,
Well there were only 3 forum members and 1 adopted (Sarah) member, but as a quatenery we had a good chat. Just for the record there was Gnostic, Michael, Stewart Edwards and his delightful wife Sarah.
Michael had come down from Manchester and came to the Meridian Meeting in the morning and we met Stewart and Sarah in the Pillars. Conversation was very good and diverse, God help us when a few more of us finally meet up...
Well, the inaugural meet up has happened and I really fancy Brighton as the next meet up (no lodge meeting on the nudist beach) as good knows where I will hide the Gavel...., any Lodges meeting in the Summer on a Saturday in Brighton? I will have to have a chat with my dear friend Reg Barrow in the Brighton Masonic Centre.
As for the next one how much support have we for a Saturday in Blackpool or Manchester - lets get some dates in stone so we all have plenty of notice.

Gnostic,
Quite a fe wof us know Reg the curator and what an intersesting person he is to speak to.
As regards summer meetings in Brighton well unfortunately the Center virtually shuts down for the summer and there are no meetings in Brighton at all in August. The nearest being one meeting of 8770 Harbour lights at Peacehaven which is about 9 miles up the coast and is a lovely masonic center.
I believe Proton is a member of Sussex Masters who meet on a Saturday about then too ??
Looking through the Year book there are some meetings held on Saturday evenings and one Being Earl of Sussex which meets at a seafront hotel.Easy accomodation eh?
I often visit Knights of the Road 3676 and they have a meeting on 3rd Saturday in September. This is a good lodge to vist and normally has quite a few in attendance.
However Brighton in September is an entirely different matter and you could theoritically take your pick from the restart month of the Masonic Year.

Staffs, Yes, Sussex Masters does meet on a saturday in September, which would be a good time for the forum members to meet up. It is a weekend so the pressures of work, (unless one is a shift worker) will not be there. What I will do is to post this on a new thread, in due course. The Hall in Brighton, for those of us that know it, is easy to get to if travelling to Brighton by train. It is about a 10 minute walk from the station. For those who want to travel by car there is an big multi story car park (NCP) in North Street adjacent to the Sorting Office. Concessionary parking tickets can be purchased at the bar in the temple. However, I am of the view that we should if possible have a forum meet up away from the south east, say the Midlands, if anyone would like to arrange it. Steve, I have been to Sindlesham, I go there regularly as Robin White the Curator of the Museum is very helpful. I do concur that it is a devil of a place to get to by public transport. Proton

Robin, his Library, Shop and Museum are the only really good things at Sindlesham. He is very helpful in all things and a first class Man and Mason.
As I have said it is no longer a Centre I attend apart from KTPs and occassionally being Invited as a guest to some other Brother's Meeting.

I am aware that Trinity in Coventry have a special event this year a 250th perhaps perhaps Trinityman could let us know. Hi Proton - just replied to your email. Numbers are really tight for the 250th so that might not be the best occasion. I would certainly recommend Serenity Lodge in Coventry though - they meet May June July and Sept so 2006 might have a summer meet option.
