I've had this urge ever since meeting up with a few of you at our St John's Ceremony ... would love to organise a forum get-together; who's up for it?
Cheers,
Cora

Cora, its a great idea but i would also like to bring my wife along particularly if there will be other women to vchat too.
However it is a arduous task getting everyone to agree on a time and place and remember that at this time of year there are many people on holiday and then you have the wil i wont i and cant mmake it at the last minute.
Whatever you do wil have my support and if i can make it you will knoe one way or the other but if it involves and cost and payment make sure you only book in those who pay up fronyt on a first come first served basis and dont be left holding the baby.
But good luck and go for it i say.

Heck yeah, of course family is welcome, Lee!
I'm not shy of organising big events -- I've organised conferences in the course of my profession, so I have a fair idea of what is involved. What I would like, though, is suggestions as to locations / venues / activities, so let's have it!

everyone is different and likes different things and if you are trying to get Mr Foleya long to a social event nthen forget it.If you do manage it then i will willingly donate a sum of money to your charity.
maybe if you can get the locations of those interested and then find a central location amongst those for the meet up.

As long as there is no loud music or dancing, both of which I abhor, and it is nowhere near Southend or anywhere in Essex, I could well attend. I do enjoy a good meal and chat.

I got him to come along to one last week, does that count? ;D Yep; let's see how many would be interested and we'll take it from there. Cheers, C.

If London would suit....on a Saturday or Sunday maybe?
We could meet at St Pauls and see the restored Temple Arch and the plaque commemorating the formation of the first GL, and then wander over to Clerkenwell to see the masonic centre there and have a spot of lunch or mid afternoon snack in a hostelry serving fine ale, or even head over towards Jack the Ripper land in the east end and have a curry in Brick Lane- am happy to act as guide and chief pub tester if it suits........
Or we could all go down to the seaside and meet in Brighton.....or Glasgow and let ruff show us around there?

I'd rather not London, too much of a busman's holiday . I'd far rather somewhere like the coast, Brighton if you will, maybe Cora's own patch of Portsmouth and Southsea. Anyway, let's see how it develops and who wants to attend. Myself, conditionally.

I like the type of activities and places to visit you suggest, Bod. Considering our geographic spread, however, I think something more central may be more appropriate -- we're not all down South after all.
Perhaps we should compile a list of places with Masonic (or even Templar?) connections -- any suggestions, guys?
Cheers,
Cora

If you DID consider Brighton then i would be more than willing to help out with venues etc.
Maybe a tour of the Temple and museum at BRighton could be arranged through the right channels ?

Sounds interesting, Lee. I think it would be good if those of us who are interested could list a couple of places of Masonic interest in or around their home base. Just a loose thought (which certainly needs verifying with the powers that be first) -- I could probably arrange for a tour of Hexagon House, Temple(s) and Museum, and maybe MP could arrange for a tour of the Masonic Centre & Temple in Surbiton ..? Let's have a list! Cheers guys, Cora

I would like to say the Temple at Brighton is a great choice if you go that way. Fantastic place, and surronded by shops, but the girls would not be interested in that.

I know a few hoteliers and B and B owners so that would be easy to arrange.
i also work for one B and B owner who uses his own house just over the downs about 10 mins from Brighton witha pool and set in some lovely grounds.
i am also quite friendly with a few Restaurant owners in the lanes ,
One does spanish one does italian/french.
They would need some notice but the Italian/french restaurant has a large seating area upstairs.
One of our lodge members also has a bar on the lower esplanade on the seafront and what a lovely place to sit on a sunny afternnoon with a nice cold beer.
Are you getting tempted.?
Ruff ? Weekend stay ? would you ever make it back to glasgow ?
Surbiton.?........Brighton.?.....................is there a comparison ?

Hell no, why would we when we can clean the kitchen and make sure our husbands are comfortable with slippers, paper and a a hot cup of tea? Cora

I would be interested but due to the job couldn't really agree much in advance. I would have to be a "possible" right upto the point where I either turn up or not. M

M Don't worry about it, Mike -- it will take time to organise this, and I will have to book venues etc. well in advance, so you'll have plenty of time to let me know whether or not you can make it. If it does take the form of a a meal or other event that requires pre-booking obviously I will need payment upfront -- will have to think about a deposit system or something like that. Keep watch this thread -- we're only in very early stages. Cheers, Cora
