Reposting of this Poll. As stated I refuse totally to wear the UGLE Tie or any Provincial Tie.

I imagine these ties serve a purpose. "The old school tie" comes to mind. I personally do not see a problem and simply look forward to the day when I can chose which one to wear

And chose you must, Leo, dont let anyone railroad you into wearing a tie you dont wish to. I do wear that tie relating to the Order I am attending, these are usually black or dark with the Symbol of the Order, there are a couple with stripes of the colours of the Order. I detest the new Lighter coloured ties and the Berkshire Craft Provincial Tie is just about the worst I have had the misfortune to see, a dreadful Grey creation more suited to some Bus Company's Drivers in my opinion.

What colour is it Lee? Can I suggest you donate it to the Raffle at Brighthelmstone Lodge so that more money can be raised for Good Causes?

As an aside, and it goes out to whoever cares to answer, how much do these ties go for? I only ask as I don't normally pay any more than a tenner. It's only a tie, for crying out loud!

As a point of reference our Craft and Chapter Provincial ties go for £8 each - with all profit going to the 2010 Festival (the Chapter one is far better than the Craft one which is a very strange shade of blue - too dark for a MM but too light for Provincial/Grand rank).
I think I paid about £5 for the Mark Provincial tie a couple of years ago and you can get the UGLE Craft tie for £8.50

As Wayne says the cost is not that high and the profit usually goes to a Provincial Charity. I have no problem with the cost and indeed did once pay for such a tie but told the chap selling them to keep it and sell it again so making extra profit for his cause, the same as I do if I buy the "Big Issue" from a vendor in the street as it is as naff a magazine as the ties are naff neckwear in my opinion.

Gentlemen, if it's about of buying something, with the money going to a good cause, then I would be delight to pay a bit extra.
Thank you both for replying to my question.

I've got another one now, ROS. I had the choice of black or green with the symbol of the Order. Now guess which one I plumped for? ;D

Steve,I wonder ? but for your info from the Sussex Deacon and just for you :
THE SUSSEX PROVINCIAL TIE
The Sussex Provincial Tie has been available now since the middle of September and some 800 have been despatched to brethren, companions etc throughout the Province. Illustrated application forms with full descriptive details were circulated with the Summer Edition of the Sussex Deacon, but the Order Form below will be happily accepted.
Remember, the tie may be worn by any Sussex Masons at any Craft or Chapter meeting in the Province of Sussex, or if you wish, will look just as good elsewhere with your suit, blazer, or sports jacket
Steve, i hope you have alrfeady placed your order ??

Thanks, but I must respectfully decline.
Once I was pressed to buy a Berkshire Provincial Tie, a most horrible object in light grey (just about the worst Provincial Tie I have seen so far). I paid the money then handed it back to the Brother selling it and as he could then re-sell it for more money for Provincial Charity as most surely would never have worn it.

Does it have to be a tie? Can't it be a silk scarf?
