This forum is fast becoming very popular. Some say it is the most popular forum of its kind on the net. What special ingredient/s is it that makes this place stand out?
There are many great forums on the net; TFM, LodgeRoomUK, MOM, etc who all do great work in helping to promote Freemasonry in the positive light it deserves.
I'm not in anyway taking away the good things they all do. Here I'm speaking specifically about this forum and why it has in such a short time became so popular.

I'd say it is because we do NOT indulge in heavy handed censorship or rigidly slapping down anyone straying "off thread". If posters do so and a thread shifts we will either leave it, move it to another part of the Forum or suggest the poster starts a new thread, we do not lock it.
We set up a special section on its own for the Esoteric and for the Kabbala. We are quite happy for alternative forms of Freemasonry to post here and give them the same respect as if the Grand master of UGLE himself was to be a poster.
We do not toe any party line and will respectfully criticise the High and Mighty if needs be, seeking no favours nor reward. We sell absolutely nothing, the adverts at the top of the screen are not under this Forum's control but are a condition of it being free. If a supplier is recommended this is on the purely personal opinion and experience of the person so doing and not for gain.
In fine, we act "On the Square" with other posters, male or female, black or white, Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Islamic, Hindu or of no religion at all, be they a Freemason of many years or the newest EA or not even a Mason at all. Our Principles and Tenets are contained in the sticky posted by Kizzy.

I posted once or twice to another forum, and found the moderators were really negative. I couldn't understand quite where they were coming from, and noticed that they'd delated so many messages that some threads were impossible to follow.
This forum is positive, open and welcoming.

It does seem to have a good balance here - those who wish to discuss the more esoteric side of things can do so without the loud chorus of noise that greets such postings elsewhere.
All the forums do an excellent job in providing a service to freemasonry and the wider community, I have learnt much and been able to make some excellent friends.
And of all the reasons posted above it has to be the "Great Admin of the forum'verse" that does it for me.....the glint of light from the lodge candles off his head were truely magical at his raising..... ;D ;D

Some excellent replies, especially from Steve. Bod's "the glint of light from the lodge candles off his head were truly magical at his raising..... ;D ;D" is an image I'm finding it hard to get from my mind

Bro. Bod, I'm quite worried for your last postings.
Did you smoke, ehmmm, anything strange? did you accept any cigarette or drinkings by unknown people?

The Mods on this forum don't think they know it all Thanks Whistler - you were supportive of my postings on the other forum too. One thing I've noticed about this forum is the true wealth of knowledge and experience in the postings, and how some of the contributions here really help me make sense of my masonic work. And yes, the moderators here seem lovely. ;D

Apart from what has already been said, there is also a really strong sense of community here. It's not just anonymous individuals posting, but people come together as friends, and you get a sense of the real people behind the avatars. And I suspect it's one of the reasons why we don't need heavy-handed moderation: people feel responsibilty and act accordingly.

I could've gone for "all of the above", because of them do really apply, but the one thing standing out for me is that the forum appeals to so many different people, and yes - that it doesn't subscribe to one particular "flavour", nor bends its knee to this organisation or that.
This forum is about the people, not the rules, and it that it gets it absolutely right.

It is a GREAT Forum! It is going to grow exponentially It is going to be attacked sooner or later - so be prepared to not fight fire with fire (everyone will get burned) but rather shine our combined Lights into the Darkness when it materialises and it will dissipate - that is the Law! .... or in everyday language let loving kindness rule our responses and all will be well. Not so easy to do sometimes.
Mother Maat (God I must be getting old) ;D
