Ok, not a likely scenario but I play Devils's advocate here...

Not saying that co-masonry or mixed masonry is wrong, I just prefer male freemasonry

Bod,once again we share the same opinion on a subject.
I do however fully respect women and co masonry and maybe if i was unable to join a male only lodge maybe i would follow the co route although in no way do i consider it as second best

This vote is particularly influenced by all the men on this forum who are predominantly in male lodges

This vote is particularly influenced by all the men on this forum who are predominantly in male lodges Very profound, Lee ;D ;D But in all seriousness you make a very valid point. Perhaps this poll is a bit one sided but it does nonetheless give the lads a chance to express their views on the subject.

This poll would naturally have a bias, but that in no way negates the benefits of conducting it. It will give an indication of members' feelings.
There will always be a need for such a variety of options within Society.
Congratulations on the courage of those stretching the bounds of opinion.

xm start thinking in different way now.. if my girlfriend now - future wife later - wanted to become a mason and joined the lodge i would definitely stay otherwise xm i dont know it depends.. i believe that i would stay for a couple of months to see if i enjoy it and then decide to stay or to change lodge.

I am with The International Order of Co-Freemasonry, Le Droit Humain my wife is too and we attend the same lodge near Belfast. We were both Initiated and Passed together, and chances are we will be Raised to the third degree together, as well We are both enjoying our Masonic journey together and having her as a fellow Mason is proving enormously helpful, I just hope I am in some way helpful to her, too ;d

i like it as it is in scotland, no women freemasons, i remember my obligation, " nor a woman, " etc. i would leave rather than have women officially joining my lodge. i do not have anything against the opposite sex, i have been married thirty nine years, and still love my wife. thewidowsson.

Actually, there are a number of Obediences in Great Britain that initiate women. So I don't think there are no women Freemasons in Scotland. There just aren't any in lodge with you.
That, I suspect, is what you really like. I have no issue with that.

So I don't think there are no women Freemasons in Scotland. I'm not sure whether OWF or HFAF are active across the border; they may well be. I do know we used to have lodges in Scotland and I think one of the smaller co-masonic bodies may have, too. And although OES is not freemasonry, at least our Brn:. under the GLoS are at liberty to join their wives and female relatives in OES meetings.

a place for each, and each in their place. Yup. That's why we have both single-gender and mixed orders: a place for each, and each in their place.
