Lets presume you are in Mark & Chapter, I am intersted to see what Orders attract the most attention from the members of this Forum. Please do not include an Order you are in. (Tm I dont think you, Jules or me can vote!) But feel free to 'advise' (Bod, I know you are in Secret Monitor so you cannot vote other! And before you say it there are only 8 choices ) Be warned,if anyone seems really keen I will send a joining form ;D ;D

As you say I can't vote as I am in all of these, however after Mark and Chapter, in that Order, I would advise R&SM (Cryptic) to complete and make sense of the Hiramic Legend, then if a Christian Freemason- KTs and on from there. I would say if time and money permit, complete the set, but not everyone can or will do so. It is difficult to rank the other Orders mentioned as all have their own special appeal, for example I also enjoy RCC, Rose Croix and although not mentioned St Thomas of Acon, and likewise OSM, Allied and Operatives. Of course KTPs is a Side Order of KTs and requires one to be both a KT and an Installed Master in Craft and there is my favourite Degree, the Royal Order of Scotland.
To be very frank only SRIA has failed to light any fire in me of all the Orders that I am in, but I feel that this may be down to recent vicissitudes within the Order and I hope that the new Supreme Magus will set things right. For that reason I will maintain a watching brief in SOCROS for a year or two then see where I go from there as regards remaining in that Order or not.

At the moment I am contemplating 3 - none of which I will be joining until 2007 when I have cleared the Craft Chair and had a chance to catch my breath - so no need for the forms just yet middlepillar!
The 3 I am considering are Royal and Select, Rose Croix and Secret Monitor. Not sure yet which order I will join them in but will almost certainly join all 3 at some point in the next couple of years.
Royal and Select for precisely the reason that Taylorsman sets out - the completion of the Hiramic legend
Rose Croix because of its Christian nature and the fact that so many of the brethren who know me well have advised me that I would find that it strikes a chord with me
Secret Monitor because I am very taken with the concept of the Visiting Deacons - it does seem to practice the principles we are supposed to profess - in particular Brotherly Love and concern for one another
All of the others, with the possible exception of the Operatives, are on my "to do" list but not for the foreseeable future.

I haven’t voted as I’m in most of them and attend regularly, (if you pardon the pun!) I’m not in the AMD, Operatives of the SRIA, but I am in the ROoS, OSM and Squaremen.

I am not qualified to vote in this poll but I am interested in finding a little more information about the Secret Monitor and understanding what exactly the Visiting Deacons do. Can anyone enlighten me without giving away anything I should not yet know.
I have looked at the main website but it is not very clear and some of the links are broken. Or rather most of the links are broken but I managed to guess what they are and access some of the pages! Anyone want to repair them?
TIA. Siontific

OSM is the most moving of the Higher Degrees I am in. The Legend is based on the Biblical Story of the friendship of David and Jonathan and how the latter saves the former from the vengence of King Saul. The Four Visiting Deacons have the duty of contacting the members under their care at least once between Meetings of the Conclave to enquire after their Health and Wellbeing and to make a Report about any who are Absent to the Supreme Ruler..
I recommend this Order to you , it is open to any Master Mason with no other qualification being necessary.

MP asked what order you are attracted to. I would presume this to be a question to be answered wether you are in one or not or looking to join or maybe interested in joining at some stage. I voted SRIA although OSM also interests me but for now i have plenty on my plate and i do not anticipate at the moment joining anythng else until i have gone through the chair as there is so much to learn already in Craft and i want to do this to the best of my ability without any other distractions. I am in Mark but have no desire to do anything other than turn up to the three meetings a year and enjoy it.

To reply to Staffs, I assumed that MP only wanted those in Mark & Chapter to vote but on the basis of Staffs post, I vote "Other" (for OSM) particularly as I think it will take me a while before I am in a position even to be able to consider any other order, let alone understand them.

Hey - not fair! I'm not in Chapter yet, so I'm not eligible for most of the others, but after chapter it would be RSM.

Guys
I said presuming you are in both Mark & Chapter, simply because being in those two degrees opens the path to most of the other Orders! But you can be an EA to vote, what Order appeals the most of the ones you are not in? And why?
I thought it would be interesting to see which Orders held appeal to the Forum members.
I admit when I first realised there were other Orders, the first Order I was interested in Joining was OSM! This is pretty amazing considering it is the one 'main' Order I have not joined. There are 2 reasons for this, the first is simply that I want to have an Order to join when I am older, I really love the experience of being 'new' and meeting new brethren, and its good to have something to look forward to!
The 2nd reason is simply this The OSM seems to be the one Order that a lot of my Masonic associates have little time for and after I had joined Chapter and Mark I wanted to complete the Hiramic legend so I never got around to it! But I will because what one brother enjoys another one wont! And I look forward to finding out for myself

Well, I'm in both Mark & Chapter (they're both administered together in Scotland), and the one I plumped for, (surprise surprise) was the SRIA - or SRIS as it would have to be.
Looking at my early interest in the subject, you could say I was born to do it.

I would go KT and then KTP, think that would be the best and most me way to go. Not that I can't se the good in the others and interest in them is big as well. But the KT way would be the one for me. I just started thinking about thise, even that is is not an option for me - over here none of the above orders are a posibility, but the thought is fun to play with.

I assume that whilst you have a 10 Degree system you don't have what I would call the Higher Degrees such as KTs, KTPs, Rose Croix etc in Denmark then?

Yeah, that's it. Although our "Chapter" probably shares some similarities with KTs, and Knight Beneficent of the Holy City carries over elements of Rectified Rite which was our main system until Swedish Rite took over (but we've kept bits and pieces, from what I've been told). Rose Croix is comparable to our VI. degree (to some extent).
To me SRIA sounds really interesting, and steps are actually being taken to open a College in Denmark. We'll see.

Now that is of Interest as KBHC or CBSC if you prefer is a very difficult Order to join from England. As far as I am aware it is Invitation only and a paper has to be written by the applicant on a subject set by them before one is even considered for membership.
SRIA? I am in it at the IV Degree but so far have been rather disappointed by it and am not active therein at present. Here in England there has recently been a new Supreme Magus and I hope he can resolve some of the problems which arose during the short Reign of his predecessor.
A month or so ago we had a visit to my Royal Arch Chapter from a Scandanavian Brother who wore a sash with a key attached . What Degree in your system would that have been?
