Whistler, your remarks suggest you're a sore loser. ;D Yes Middlepillar How very Malecraft of you to call Rugby a "Mans Game" May I draw your attention to The Black Ferns are the current Women's Rugby World Cup champions. They have won three consecutive World CupsRe the World Cup, it is easy to think it has ruined the Grass Roots game, with all the focus on one Match every four years The Touring days when teams stayed a while and visited the provinces made for excitement . a 3 Test series made the results worth while. - How can the Winner of the World Cup be called a World Champion - have they won against every team? The Tri Nations winner, the Super 14 Winners, and the Northern equivalent winners carry much More Kudos than World Cup Winners - What a waste of time the 50 60 plus score games are. All Blacks won 38 of 43 Tests coming into the World Cup, and remained undefeated in Europe for five years. So we cant be that bad For me If the All Blacks had to be beaten a dream final Would have beeen France - Fiji Whistler Hold that thought! Turn everything upside down and imagine The All Blacks were in the final (admittedly after the way they succomed to France this is quite hard to do ) Can you honestly tell me you would of written any of the above rubbish? I think not my Sun Worshiping friend The truth is any World Cup be it your beloved Rugby my Cricket or Football that has a timed competition will always have an element of luck. Everytime the luck comes my way I savour it and move on, as I have now moved on to the final. Whatever your sour grapes, I think that the way you and some of your fellow Antipodeans presumed that our Northern Hemisphere boys had no chance is probably a reflection on why you have done so badly. Confidence can be a teams own worst enemy. Come on the Whites

They must be some really sour grapes you have there Whistler! What happened to graciousness in defeat? As for the RWC what we have taking place in France at the moment is the culmination of several years of qualifying matches, the RWC isn't just one game, and the publicity it generates is excellent for the grass roots game. Over 9000 adults started playing rugby in England following the last RWC win, given the amount of concern there is over rising obesity levels this can only be a good thing.

Interesting to see that some the French Trade Unions are holding a strike now with the Rugby Final happening this weekend. Now I wonder if this would have happened had France been in the Final? Sour Grapes?

Whistler! What happened to graciousness in defeat?. Never Spare a thought for a depressed Bro. Who to support in the Final - The Poms - ShudderThe Springboks Groan It drives a man to drink. On that Fateful night a couple of weeks ago I was lazing at a small resort in Vanuatu = The only TV we could pick up was China TV At the Resort there also was a Keen Wallaby fan - we both went to bed full of confidence and woke up the next morning to a bad dream. The only consolation for me was that we didn't lose and the Aussies the Aussies win -

My dear brother whistler, I know only too well how it feels! Remember, I am welsh! So I have total empathy for your depression. Can we have Graham Henry back??
Vanuata is supposed to be lovely, somewhere I'd really like to go

I am predicting an upset. England to win in the dying seconds. I am also predicting that Whistler eventually learns that rugby exist outside of the southern hemisphere, too. Now, what are the chances of either of those two predictions coming true

Alas Leo, it was not to be. Well played South Africa, I do think England were denied a legitimate try, but you have to accept the decision as it is made at the time.

Vanuatu used to be a joint French/British condominion called the New Hebrides. Its capital is Port Vila on the island of Efate. The other main islands in the archipelago are Esperito Santo and Malakula It is a great place for a tropical holiday.

A spirited and gutsy performance by England and for a long time the game could have gone either way. England took it to SA and made things very difficult at stages but in the end the strongest and best team won.
What really impressed me about how England played is the promise they showed for the future, the self belief has returned. You can have all the skill in the world, and they have this, but if that element, that factor is missing it can mean the difference between wining and loosing.

Vanuata is supposed to be lovely, somewhere I'd really like to go Yes Bod it is a loverly place Unfortunately yet another place that our Anglo Saxon ancestors did not do us proud.. To read about and see places the natives were lined up against the wall and used as gambling chips... The Slaves sent to Brisbane and Fiji. and more.
