It's not out yet, is it? BTW by reading from another US list (ahem!) US FM's went to see the film on full gear;that is wearing masonic caps, rings, T shirts, the lot... After the screening they said that they had loads of people coming to them and asking them questions about the Craft. As a result they held an open day/dinner and they acquired 3 members...
Come on then. Who's up to go to the West End to do the same?

On a serious note, and I do get serious from time to time, I would love to see this movie. By all accounts it's supposed be a bit special. Time will tell. I do not believe it is due for general release here in Ireland just yet, but rest assured I shall be keeping my eyes and ears to the ground.

Read on movies.yahoo.com today that National Treasure remained #1 for a second week in a row...so, it's definetly becoming really popular

Saw The movie with the girl tonight!!!!!!!
DO NOT KEEP READING THIS MESSAGE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ ABOUT MASONIC REFERENCES/STORY-SPOILERS BEFORE YOU SEE THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some masonic notes about the movie
-from what i can tell most of what was talked about symbols/history wise had alot of credibility -squares and compasses EVERYWHERE in this movie, as well as other symbols such as the tau, trinity, all seeing eye, pillars, arch, etc etc -most of these symbols were merely just there with no expolanation....it is an entertainment movie after all -mentioned how someone was a "3rd degree master mason of the blue lodge" -brief explanation of winding staircase in solomon's temple -the knight/lomas ma'at treasure-hunt talked about in HIRAM KEY is same story used in this movie for history of freemasons and their secrets -notice how the "treasure grave" had two pillars and an arch
This is what I can remember now, but my roomate wants to go see it, so i'm gonna go see it again, but i'll rememberr much more detail since i'll be much less excited

THIS MESSAGE IS THE REVIEW --> NO SPOILERS HERE, SAFE TO READ
-I thought the movie was purely excellent, I was as excited as any movie, it was suspenseful, action packed, reference packed and there was more funny laugh-out-loud moments than most comedies...even though that didn't take away from the tenseness of the movie. I can't say enough good things about this movie, it was very very good. As freemasons, I can't imagine for one second you guys not enjoying the movie. GO SEE IT

NO NO NO ,
I WOULD NEVER dare download this on Win MX and watch it and then e mail.
It would just encourage piracy.
Ill wait then and see it in full screen without all the bad picture

There was a huge amount of debate regarding this film on the Internet Movie Database...the address is www.imdb.com/Unfortunately, a lot of nutters and antis became involved, and I had a couple of attempts at putting them right, but then gave up. Sounds like a good film though.

Saw National Treasure today. Quite a good film and many refs to Freemasonry and Knights Templars. However when was the 3rd degree started of the blue lodge as i believe there is an incorrect fact where a mason is referred to as having been a 3rd degree master mason but was this conferred 200 years ago

I'm going to see it tomorrow.
There only used to be two Degrees, EA and FC. The Third Master Mason Degree came later. An echo of this can be seen from the fact that the Master Elect is Obligated in the Second Degree, and all the references are to "Fellows" and "Craftsmen", not Master Masons in the early part of the Installation. When the Lodge is Opened in the Third at an Installation, no work is done but the those below the rank of an Installed Master retire and a Board of Installed Masters is then Opened to perform the Inner Workings.
Of course that is UGLE Craft, US Freemasonry and others may do things differently.

Have just seen this film - very enjoyable with lots of Masonic symbolism / content. Nice touch towards the end when the FBI man reveals himself (so to speak!). Oh yes, there's also Diane Kruger...........

I agree with midlander... on all 3 counts. ;D Went to see this tonight with a mate who's on the square and we had a great time. His teenage daughter came along, too, and even she thought it was great. Although it came out on Boxing Day it's still showing (in places like the Vue Cinema at the Oracle in Reading), albeit on the smaller screens. If you're out for a good action/adventure movie with a lot of symbolic references, humour, near misses and the like, then this movie should be on your "to see" list. Cage is the perfect cast for the role (action/humour) and Diane Kruger is, well... just perfect. Now I'm off to see if I can pre-order it from Play.com...

Went to see this as well. It's a pleasant film which can fill in a couple of hours. No real after effects up here in Scotland, however I dread to think what will happen after the Da Vinci Code is released.
