Got this from a friend and thought I'd pass it on: "Brother of the Third Degree" by Will Garver is an excellent book, which I enjoyed reading years ago following a recommendation by an illustrious Brother. An excerpt from "Book Reviews and Exchanges" in the American Rosae Crucis of June 1916 reads: "BROTHER OF THE THIRD DEGREE. By Will E. Garver. Published by Purdy Publishing Co., 1,000 Mallers Bldg., Chicago, Ill. An occult story of Mystic Initiation worthy of a place beside Lytton's "Zanoni," and "A Strange Story," or the celebrated "Count de Gabalis." It is well written, giving many occult truths in an interesting and pleasing manner. We recommend this book to all true seekers whether Rosaecrucians or not. To those who have received illumination it is of added interest, because of the vivid descriptions of this soul's trials and tests in its desire for knowledge." The book is on-line, albeit with some OCR (scanning) errors, e.g. "Colono" appearing as "Colona". It may be downloaded through: onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/search?author=Will+Garver&amode=words This on-line edition includes a Vocabulary at the end of the book. The Vocabulary is not included in the print edition (published by Spiritual Literature Library, New York, 1989) in my possession.

I've read this.
It's excellent.
Though I don't buy that bit about lifelong celibacy to achieve enlightenment.
It is nice to know there's a wildly powerful esoteric Fraternity out there that really rules the world ;D

Greetings, I've read this. It's excellent. Though I don't buy that bit about lifelong celibacy to achieve enlightenment. It is nice to know there's a wildly powerful esoteric Fraternity out there that really rules the world ;D The book "Zenia the Vestal" by Margaret B. Peeke is also worth looking into. I loved reading this book also... although that was nearly 30 yrs ago.
Synchronicity - yet again! Funny how often celebicy been mentioned on this forum in the past week. And all to do with raising the Kundalini. I think celibacy is the path for the high achievers, but the middle way, which Jesus put forward, has the same result. The path is not knife edged and it may take just a tad longer.
Like extreme dieting... the faster the weight comes off the faster it goes back on again - and more. Gently does it for most folks and the results are long lasting.

Hmmmm. I am Celibate but I have taken no vow to be so and was married for 10 years. Is there any benefit from such a state? I think not, after all God made us Women and Men and I do wonder if the one remains unfulfilled without the other just as to me a Malecraft Lodge was missing a vital part from the absence of the female energies and life forces.
