Nice one - I had seen it before and it unfortunately doesn't have all the options but it certainly covers the main ones.

Thanks Andrew, a very useful site.
I have met Michael Stayt, a very nice and knowledgable man indeed.

Another good resource for where to go next is Beyond the Craft, byt Keith Jackson.
You get an explination of the order, it's degrees and what is required to petition the order. It has two useful appendicies, detailing where to go and giving the governing bodies for the same orders in other countries.
I have found it most useful and would recommend it to anyone interested in going on after being raised.

The good thing about the book is the fact that the Author has taken nearly (if not all) of the Orders featured (I am not sure if he is a Baldwyn Rite Mason). I always use it if only to check on regalia etc, I also like the fact Keith Jackson does not tell you what to do, just gives a thumbnail sketch and tells you the requirements, excellent. I also heard a rumour he was considering including Thomas of Acon in the next issue, I dont know if anyone else has heard that?

Can I recommend OSM. It is open to all Master Masons, no religious restrictions so it appeals to many of the Jewish faith, and no need to be in RA or Mark. A Degree which is truly based on "Friendship"
M.P. In hope that Keith Jackson does include "St Thomas of Acon" in the next edition. This is one of the fastest growing Orders at present.

A couple of questions. As a newish EA, I am unsure of which way to go once raised. Once suitably qualified (eg to 3rd Degree), is it possible to visit say a Mark lodge, or is it necessary to apply, and if accepted be initiated once again into the new order?
There seems to be more potential for Mark rather than OSM around my area, and at the moment, this may well be the door I would choose (Based on info received in this forum) as it may well open further doors down the line, but is it possible to visit a couple of lodges, and see what may be better (for me) before taking the plunge?
Also, is it normal having joined another lodge to remain with that lodge for ever, or simply spend several years learning the new information, and moving on?
On one hand, lodges could not sustain this, on the other, there are so many other things to experiance in masonry. There is simply not enough time to commit to everything!!

Squared, the OSM is currently re-organising its Administrative Structure and you would come under Berks, Bucks and Oxon. Currently there are Conclaves at Bletchley, Banbury and Oxford. My own meets at Wokingham, we met last Friday- very enjoyable it's a lovely Degree!
Now as regards Mark, I would recommend that you join it as the next Order after Craft as it continues the Hiramic Story then join Royal Arch. Then you could complete the story by joining Royal and Select Masters.
I'm afraid that like any of the Masonic Degrees you can't try before you buy so as far as Mark is concerned you will need to do your Third Degree thus become a Master Mason then apply to be Advanced into a Mark Lodge. In Scotland Mark is more closely involved in the mainstream with Craft and Royal Arch, whereas down here it is separate with its own Administration and its own GM, currently Prince Michael of Kent.
Good luck, you will enjoy Mark, it is often called the Friendly Degree and is more relaxed than Craft or RA. One world of advice, of you wish to join Mark after your Third do so, (although I would wait for a year), but don't let anyone railroad you into joining Chapter first as is often the case.
Finally, most people do tend to maintain membership of their Mother Lodge, even if they move away and only remain as Country Members and attend if and when they can. There is however no compulsion to do so, and one is free to apply to become a Joining Member of another Craft Lodge as long as all one's subs are paid up to the original Lodge. It can be that you find a Lodge which does a Ritual you prefer over that of the first Lodge, or it meets at a more convenient time and place, or you likes its ambience.
Only time and money need limit you in this regard. I commend Keith B Jackson's "Beyond the Craft" for your perusal.

Taylorsman, Many thanks for that informative reply. Most useful. Would 'Beyond The Craft' be a suitable read at the moment, or could it spoil what is in store with regards to craft degrees?
Also, how do I find out about Mark Lodges in my area?

Beyond the craft will not spoil anything for you it does give excellent thumbnail sketches of most of the other Degrees, I do agree with Taylorsman regarding waiting a year approx before starting your masonic journey, there is much to take in, in the first three degrees and you will appreciate it all the more.
Regarding Mark in your area, you would come under the province of Bucks and there are several Lodges meeting at Ayelsbury, Wolverton, Bletchley, Linslade Plus quite a few meeting at Marlow, Slough & Beaconsfield although if yiou are in North Bucks you might prefer Mark Lodges to the North In Bedfordshire. The Provincial Sec of Bucks is W.Bro Jeffery Green, unfortunately I cannot find his tel no at the moment. I belong to a Mark Lodge that meets at Slough, which is an excellent Centre and provides great food at the festive board.

Is there a central website for Buckinghamshire Mark Masons? There seems to be little information on the Bucks pgl site.
Many Thanks for all the information...
