As someone who is seriously considering asking to become a Mason, I am wondering whether there are books, articles, or journals that some of you who have done this journey already would recommend for me to read? Either fiction, non fiction or memoirs. Thanks gipsyrose

Gypsyrose. Don't read anything - written words are other peoples views. Go with your inituition.....

I found The Way of the Craftsman very heavy going - perhaps if I had a better grasp of psychology it would have made more sense
I've just ordered Stephen Dafoe's "Everything I knew about Freemasonry I learned as an Entered Apprentice" and am looking forward to reading that when stretched out on a sunny beach - assuming the postal services get it through to me in time

It is more important to develop the skills necessary to investigate the energy flows of the lodge.
Most of the writers you find on Masonry are often or mostly guessing. Wilmhurst is better than most - he only guesses half of the time.
Better to learn how to discover for yourself.
Cheers

It doesn't try to tell you what it is all about but just introduces you (gently) to masonic symbols. It has a very French flavour and touches on A&ASR. GP

I would suggest, "The Craft and Its Symbols", Allen E. Roberts. It is a very nice, very basic text on Masonic symbolism. I recommend it to all newly made brothers.
