I have read that some Mormons still believe that it's ok to have more than one wife. I have also heard that many Masons are Mormons. My question is; how do Masons, whether Mormon or otherwise, feel about this practice?

One was more than enough for me! Moi Aussi! We have a Mormon in our Lodge - he is firmly monogamous. It's only in the depths of the darkest US of A where polygamy is still accepted.

I am content with one also. From a Masonic point of view, I am not sure it has any connection... If the Societies Moral worth ... permits many wives, same sex partners, or just partners... Why Not

My current wife, Lisa, a bit of a moaner (anyone getting this?) and I are very happy as we are.
Back on topic. I have recently found out that not all Mormons follow the same guide lines, and that there are many "break-away" groups. It is some of these "rogue" Mormons who still practice pologamy. Did anyone see the documentry, on Chanal 4?, about the Mormon who had six (SIX!) wives. I now understand that his version of the religion is not accepted by mainstream Mormonism.

I now understand that his version of the religion is not accepted by mainstream Mormonism. This may be of interest, from Frommers Travel Guide site:(http://www.frommers.com/destinations/utah/0249025933.html) "It's practically impossible to discuss the church without discussing polygamy, which caused so much antagonism toward church members in the 19th century. But polygamy -- or plural marriage, as the church dubbed it -- has little to do with what the LDS church was and is. Polygamy came about as a "revelation" to church founder Joseph Smith in the 1840s, was practiced by a relatively small percentage of church members, and was outlawed by church officials in 1890. Today, polygamy is prohibited both by church doctrine and state law, although it does continue among an estimated 30,000 rebels, who have left the church to practice their own brand of Mormonism." As polygamy is outlawed by both LDS and the State of Utah I guess we won't be bumping into too many polygamous mormons!
