I heard Walt Disney was in Demolay but not a mason, and that Louise Armstrong's membership has not been confirmed. I've also seen one website claim that Richard Prior was a Mason, but anyone familiar with his life story would have trouble pin pointing the time in his life when morality was valued high and perfecting his ashlar was a priority. Top comedian and probably a real nice guy, but it just doesn't fit that he was a Mason - that and no one can say which lodge he was with.
I think thats the easiest qualifier to see if someone was a mason, find out which lodge they were a member of.

I have to say; "Who cares"? Very few of the above are Famous Masons, but people famous for other reasons.
Winston Churchill was a Mason, but only attended a handful of meetings. To my mind, he is not therefore a famous mason.
I always think that pulling lists like this together is just seeking validation for something we do; "It must be good - Churchill was one". Quite frankly, my self-esteem isn't low enough to need external validation.

I think you missed Franz Joseph Haydn. He brought in Mozart and Beethoven.

It's simply a list which I've added to for the past few months.

Something that might be of interest as you mentioned Mirabeau B. Lamar. He is considered the father of Texas public education. Lodges here in Texas continue to award the Lamar Medal each year to exceptional high school students (in the school nearest our lodge). It's a great way for us to recognize exceptional young people and for them to learn about us as well.
If you feel "all is lost" with the youth of today, you should attend one of these. (Or even the selection committee). There are truly some amazing kids out there.

What a great idea marcopolo... or should I say ideas. What better way to sow seed thoughts re the values of Freemasonry to possible future masons. The male craft here award an annual prize to an outstanding scholar as well. Takes place at Government House, the Governor of the day doing the presentation. (It is rather nice having a butler to meet, greet and take care of one... I could get used to that - in my dreams ) Maat

This is first class! Thanks Bro Blake.
Perhaps someone will compile such as list for famous British Freemasons? May I nominate two?
Annie Bessant, Social Reformer and Founder of Le Droit Humain in the UK.
Jock Stein, manager of Glasgow Celtic when they won the European Cup and of Scotland when that football (soccer) team was reasonably successful.
