Scan. http://rapidshare.com/files/166605885/Lynn_F._Perkins_-_The_Meaning_of_Masonry.pdf Oliver Day Street - Symbolism of the Three Degrees I-IIISymbolism of the Three Degrees is a discussion of the symbols, legends, and allegories of Freemasonry. It began as a collection of research material for a series of lectures, which were later published in The Builder, a journal of the National Masonic Research Society. Due to their great popularity, they were eventually assembled in book form. In approaching each symbol of the degrees, the author endeavors to go beyond those explanations provided in the lectures and found within the monitors of Freemasonry. He sought to illuminate each in both practical and historic terms. The topics are arranged by degree and indexed at the back of the book. Originally published in 1922, this work remains a great resource for newly raised Master Masons and anyone seeking more information about the symbolism of Freemasonry. As stated in the forward to the book: "Masters and wardens and all others entrusted with the exemplification of our marvelous Masonic ritual will find in it such light on all the important symbols of the Three Degrees as will give them and their audience a new interest in the work, and a new appreciation of the inexhaustible wealth hidden away within the heart of Ancient Craft Masonry." Tehuti .. just read The Lost Word, its Hidden Meaning - loved it! Thank you so much for this wonderful thread. Thank you to all the dedicated people who share their libraries with us. I am making good use of them. Amazing resources, freely given. Wonder filled. Maat You're welcome, oh goddess Maat! It is uncommon for a non-mason to share so many masonic books across the Internet, or am I mistaken? W.L. Wilmshurst - Masonic InitiationThe Masonic Initiation is the powerful sequel to W. L. Wilmshurst's other enduring classic, The Meaning of Masonry. Here, we find the author's most advanced expression as he explores the profound depths of Masonic ritual as a contemplative art, and offers his vision of the future of the Order. Both Freemasons and those who study the Craft from a distance will enjoy these insightful essays. This new edition by Plumbstone has been fully revised and re-set in clear, modern type, and is enriched with extensive notes expanding on Wilmshurst's points, elucidating his sources, and explaining the differences between American and British Freemasonry. Prominent Masonic author Robert G. Davis writes in his Foreword that this edition provides "a new look at a timeless classic which has induced many generations of Masons to feel that, when they are in the sacred space of lodge, they are in the presence of a mystery that goes to the root of their own being." 228 pages, 11.5 MB, PDF. Scan. http://rapidshare.com/files/167555190/W.L._Wilmshurst_-_Masonic_Initiation.pdf John Yarker - Secret High Degree Rituals of MemphisThe Rite of Memphis aggravated members of "conventional" Freemasonry because it claimed not only to be the true source of Masonic wisdom but to be the ONLY legitimate Masonic system! Its rituals were much more esoteric than those commonly encountered in "regular" Freemasonry. Many colorful personalities allied themselves with this system, including Karl Kellner, Theodore Reuss and Aleister Crowley. In England, the Rite was under the direction of John Yarker, while in the United States, Harvey Spencer Lewis, of AMORC fame, also made use of these degrees. This fascinating book is a reprint of John Yarker's manuscript-"The Ancient and Primitive Rite of Memphis in 95th Degree-Book Third-Series III Consistory and Grand Council." It includes Yarker's last revision of the 34th through 96th Degree rituals inclusive, plus the "secret work". 85 pages, 20.2 MB, PDF. J.D. Buck - The Symbolism of Freemasonry or Mystic MasonryThis Great Secret, this Master's Word, was know to and preserved in the Mysteries of Antiquity, and is embodied and preserved in the traditions and symbols of Masonry today. This fact has been stated repeatedly in the body of this little book, the real purpose of which was to set students, and particularly masonic students, to searching for the real secret. It is the reward of study and devotion, and has never been obtained on any other terms. It has never been conferred in the ritualistic degrees of the lodge, and never will or can be. It is the establishment of understanding in the soul of man between that higher self in him, and the More, and the Beyond self from which he draws his life, and from which his intuitions spring. This is real Initiation: Becoming: At-one-ment." "There are thousands of Masons, who realize that Masonry contains and implies far more than appears in the ritual and ceremonies of the Lodge. There is a very widespread and growing interest in this direction, and it is this that Mystic Masonry, above all else, is designed to foster, encourage, and help." I must say, this has grown into a truly impressive collection. Thank you! Where do you find these treasures? Please DO keep spoiling us. ;D These jewels are very hard to find. Most of them are originally uploaded on virtual education libraries, of course, scanned from originals. Richardson's Monitor of Freemasonry (1860)Being a Practical Guide to the Ceremonies of all the Degrees conferred in Masonic Lodges, Chapters, Encampments and Explaining the Signs, Tokens, and Grips, Words, Passwords, Sacred Words, Oaths, and Hieroglyphics used by Masons. The ineffable and Historical Degrees are also given in full. 192 pages, 12.4 MB, PDF. Scan. http://rapidshare.com/files/189223683/Richardson_-_Monitor_of_Freemasonry.pdf Calvin C. Burt - Egyptian Masonic History of the Original and Unabridged Ancient and Ninety-six 96th Degree Rite of Memphis This book was written for the purpose of showing what the Egyptian Masonic Rite of Memphis really is; as some of the Craft have not had the advantages of Masonic libraries, and have been made to believe that it is an innovation on the other Rites or Systems.... The Masonic order of Memphis is...the sole depository of high Masonic science, the true primitive rite, the supreme rite, that which has come down to us without any alteration.... In fine, the Rite of Memphis is the true Masonic tree, and all other systems, whatever they may be, are only detached branches of this institution, rendered respectable by its vast antiquity. This book is THE ONLY HISTORICAL WORK IN PRINT COVERING THE EVOLUTION OF THE RITE OF MEMPHIS IN THE UNITED STATES by one of its original members and leaders. It includes the complete texts of documents not obtainable elsewhere and also fascinating extracts from numerous rituals of the Rite of Memphis (including the Rose Croix) before it was abbreviated by Harry J. Seymour and/or John Yarker. Also included are the complete texts of the Forty-third Degree, Adept Installator, Forty-fourth Degree, Grand Consecrator, and Forty-fifth Degree, Grand Eulogist rituals. 358 pages, 15.3 MB, PDF. A.T. Pierson - Traditions Of Freemasonry And Its Coincidences With The Ancient Mysteries (1870)Discusses the meaning behind the ritual. Vail - Ancient Mysteries and Modern Masonry (1909)In the early ages occult knowledge was taught openly, as the sciences are taught in our colleges to-day. But in the course of time many allowed their selfishness to rule and so abused their power that it became necessary to withhold such knowledge from the unworthy. This was the condition of religious affairs when the Mysteries were necessarily established by the King-Priests of the Divine Dynasties, in the early days of Atlantis. -from "The Origin of the Mysteries" Though the author cannot, alas, "lift the veil from the secrets of the Order," 32nd-degree Freemason Charles H. Vail endeavors to lead the curious toward a more complete understanding of the ancient knowledge of the eternal truth of the universe of which the Masons are the keepers. From the great antiquity of Masonic symbols and traditions to the formation of the organization with their perpetuation as its goal, this 1909 book is an intriguing glimpse inside one of the most secretive fraternities in existence. It is required reading for those fascinated by arcane wisdom and secret societies. 256 pages, 13.9 MB, PDF. Scan. http://www.4shared.com/file/87504869/b982ef30/Charles_H_Vail_-_Ancient_Mysteries_and_Modern_Masonry__1909_.html James Anderson - The Constitutions of the Free-Masons (1859)Edition of the the first Masonic book printed in America, which was originally produced in Philadelphia by Benjamin Franklin in 1734, and was a reprint of a work by James Anderson (who is identified as the author in an appendix) printed in London in 1723. This is the seminal work of American Masonry, edited and published by one of the founding fathers, and of great importance to the development of colonial society and the formation of the Republic. The work contains a 40-page history of Masonry: from Adam to the reign of King George I, including, among others, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Solomon, Hiram Abif, Nebuchadnezzar, Augustus Caesar, Vitruvius, King Athelstan the Saxon, Inigo Jones, and James I of England. It is a celebration of the science of Geometry and the Royal Art of Architecture. The work also includes five songs, one of which—“A New Song”—appears in print for the first time and may have been composed by Franklin. 130 pages, 9.48 MB, PDF. Scan. http://www.4shared.com/file/87499876/400aae9/James_Anderson_-_The_Constitutions_of_the_Free-Masons__1859_.html Oliver Day Street - Symbolism of the Three Degrees Originally published in 1920s by Oliver Day Street, Symbolism of the Three Degrees completely elucidates the symbolism of Freemasonry in three volumes: * Volume I: The Entered Apprentice Degree * Volume II: The Fellow Craft Degree * Volume III: The Master Mason Degree The author proceeds upon the principle, ignored by so many, that Masonic symbols should have a Masonic interpretation, as determined by the history and teaching of the Craft. This saves him the trouble, and his readers the weariness, of wandering through the mazes of ancient lore in quest of imaginary meanings of symbols to which the Craft has given, tacitly or officially, its own interpretation. The comparative study of symbols, to say nothing of their varied, meanings and migrations, is another subject, and is beyond the limits and purpose of this book. Symbolism of the Three Degrees will be welcomed by the Craft as a practical and competent elucidation of its symbolism, and it is an honor to the M.S.A. (Masonic Service Association) to give it a worthy and permanent form. 3 volumes, 17.8 MB, PDF. Anyone have a link to a downloadable copy of "Ask me Brother" by Merz? I've searched all the sites I know, but no trace of this one, I'm afraid. Since it was published in 1926 I thought this would be in the public domain and available from the Internet Archive, but it seems nobody has scanned it yet. It may still turn up at a later date though.

Prentiss Tucker - The Lost Key: An Explanation and Application of the Masonic SymbolsSymbols play a big part in our lives, but we often take them for granted. To illustrate the meaning of symbols this book uses the example of the American flag, and explains what the symbols found on the flag really mean. The important point is that without an understanding of American history we'd not know how to interpret the symbols on our flag. The same holds true for all symbols. Lacking enough background information causes us, many times, to miss their full meaning. The Lost Key is a book for Freemasons, and explains the meanings of their symbols. Masons are members of a longstanding fraternal order that functions along the lines of a mystical brotherhood. A number of rituals are performed as one progresses up the ranks, usually in the form of an initiation. Often times Masons themselves do not know what the symbols within these rituals truly mean while they are being performed -- so therefore do not fully understand what they are really doing and the true purpose of the initiation. There are thirty-three degrees, or levels, in Freemasonry. This particular book covers the symbols found within the first three degrees of Freemasonry, making this an excellent guidebook for the beginning Mason, as well as providing a more complete understanding for those in the higher levels who administer or oversee their rituals. In recent years statistics show that Freemasonry has begun to lose some of its members. The older books like The Lost Key have gone out of print and younger Masons may not have fully understood the purpose of their initiations -- at least enough to hold their interest. The symbols found within Freemasonry operate on a number of different levels. Now that The Lost Key has been "found" and is back in print once again, it may help to enrich an organization that traditionally attracts high-standing members of communities across North America and the rest of the world. 120 pages, 475 KB, PDF. A.E. Waite - The Secret Tradition in Freemasonry (1911)1937. This was Waite's last book and is THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK EVER WRITTEN ON THE ESOTERIC ASPECTS OF FREEMASONRY. "I am not offering in this book a revised edition of two volumes which appeared under the same title so far back as 1911. It is so altered, extended and transformed that it may claim to be a new undertaking and to supersede in fact that which it preserves in name." Waite not only reedited and radically restructured the two volume edition, but he incorporated much of his Emblematic Freemasonry (1925) that it might, as he said, supersede the previous work. This was Waite's last and (in his opinion) most important work on Freemasonry. Contents: Creative and Emblematic Freemasonry; Craft Degrees and Their Connections; Second Holy House; New Alliance in Freemasonry; Quest in Christian Ritual; Masonic Orders of Chivalry Apart from Templar Grades; Templar Grades of Freemasonry; Of Alchemy in Masonry; Of Magical and Kabbalistical Degrees; The Growth of Masonic Tradition; Freemasonry and the French Revolution; Mysteries on their Mystical Side. Duncan's Ritual of FreemasonryGUIDE TO THE THREE SYMBOLIC DEGREES OF THE ANCIENT YORK RITE AND TO THE DEGREES OF MARK MASTER, PAST MASTER, MOST EXCELLENT MASTER, AND THE ROYAL ARCH. The purpose of this work is not so much to gratify the curiosity of the uninitiated as to furnish a guide for the neophytes of the Order, by means of which their progress from grade to grade may be facilitated. Every statement in the book is authentic, as every proficient Mason will admit to himself, if not to be public, as he turns over its pages. The non-Masonic reader, as he peruses them, will perhaps be puzzled to imagine why matters of so little real importance to society at large should have been so industriously concealed for centuries, and still more surprised that society should have been so extremely inquisitive about them. Complete with over 100 illustrations showing the signs, emblems, handshakes, postions, ect... 499 pages, 3.68 MB, PDF. The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite uses the word Dogma in its true sense, of doctrine, or teaching; and is not dogmatic in the odious sense of that term. Everyone is entirely free to reject and dissent from whatsoever herein may seem to him to be untrue or unsound. It is only required of him that he shall weigh what is taught, and give it fair hearing and unprejudiced judgment. Of course, the ancient theosophic and philosophic speculations are not embodied as part of the doctrines of the Rite; but because it is of interest and profit to know what the Ancient Intellect thought upon these subjects, and because nothing so conclusively proves the radical difference between our human and the animal nature, as the capacity of the human mind to entertain such speculations in regard to itself and the Deity. In addition, the book surveys the history of dozens of Masonic rites (both recognized and unrecognized) including the Ancient and Accepted Rite (Scottish Rite) and the York Rite (including the Mark Master, the Holy Royal arch, and the Knight Templar degrees), the Rite of Perfection, the Strict Observance, the Elu Cohens, the Rite of Philalethes, Swedenborg's Rite, the Rite of Mizraim, the Rite of Memphis, the Mopses, and Adoptive Masonry. Several details of these degrees are provided at a time before many subsequent changes made to the ritual work. This book offers a rare and intriguing glimpse into the Scottish Rite degrees before the influence of Albert Pike and from the perspective of English Freemasonry. 455 pages, 8.66 MB, PDF. Egyptian Rite of Memphis In the following few pages of preface, illustrious Knights will find the account of the ancient Egyptian mysteries as given by that erudite Mason, Albert G. Mackey, in his Lexicon of Free Masonry; every sentence of which gives proofs of the existence of Masonry in Egypt. If more evidence were needed we have only to refer Illustrious Knights to such eminent writers as Olivier Pluche, Herodotus, &c., to convince them, beyond reasonable doubt, that if Egypt was not the cradle of Masonry, the Order, at any rate, at one time flourished and held sway amid the magnificent temples and pyramids of the land of the Pharaohs. The following is the account referred to above „Egypt was the cradle of all the mysteries of paganism. At one time in possession of all the learning and religion that was to be found in the world, it extended into other nations the influence of its sacred rites and its secret doctrines.“ „The principal seat of the mysteries was at Memphis in the neighbourhood of the great Pyramid. They were of two kinds, the greater and the lesser; the former being the mysteries of Osiris and Serapis, the latter those of Isis. The mysteries of Osiris were celebrated at the autumnal equinox, those of Serapis at the summer solstice, and those of Isis, at the vernal equinox.“ In the following pages are given the exoteric work of five of the Degrees of a Rose Croix Chapter, Discreet Master, the Fourth Degree; Sublime Master, Sixth Degree; the Royal Arch, Thirteenth Degree; the Secret Vault, the Fourteenth Degree; and the Rose Croix, Eighteenth Degree. 229 pages, 15.7 MB, PDF. The author has some good comments and while written almost 90 years ago, can be applied today to the reader's Masonic life. From foreword: „The purpose of the writer has been to stimulate interest in the study of Masonry, the progressive moral science; that science which consists in those collected and classified facts in human experience, upon which each individual may formulate his own philosophy of life and conduct, for religious guidance in the life that now is, in order that he may fit himself for the life that is to be, in which life he hopes to become a Son of God.“ 199 pages, 2,45 MB, PDF.
