I auditioned for Britain Got Talent last year, I was in a 'boy band', Simon Cowel said I was too fat, plus too old, What does he know, Idiot. As long as the other 7 year olds want to keep trying we will keep going, for our dream, We dont care that we were rejected, we hate Simon, we know we are the best and we will keep coming back until they see how good we are. Now there's a clip I bet they would never show! ;D Wayne

Now this is a pity.
Peace had broken out here, the lion was lying with the lamb. Why has the age old and contentious issue of Recognition/Visitation arisen again as it cannot be solved at Grass Roots level.
LDH and other Co-Masonic Bodies exist and it now seems that UGLE acknowledge that fact. For a long time from my personal experience they have both acknowledged Women Only Freemasonry such as OWF and HFAF and afforded them the use of their Temples etc as long as Male Masons are not present. Many Malecraft Masons do not know of the existence of LDH etc? I didn't for a long time and I consider myself to be well read in Masonic matters. To be blunt I found that many in UGLE know only of Craft and RA and their own Province and really are not that interested in other matters be those the Higher Degrees or other forms of Freemasonry.
That Co-Masonry should become better known to the World at Large I agree but that is for us to establish, we can hardly expect UGLE to do this for us.

Inprecise use of language and metaphors can cause all sorts of problems, I read karen's post as directed at, shall we say, 'the forces of conservatism in the dark corners of malecraft masonry' - not at UGLE per se. Plus karen couldn't hold up a battering ram, you seen how tiny a mouses arm's are?
I personally believe that Karen's actions speak louder than her words on the forum, in writing her paper, and winning, she stood up and said in a strong voice "I'm a freemason, and this is why" without needing to batter anyone or anything. It wasn't about power play, it was about resilience and standing proud for what you believe in. As Bill points out, there are plenty agin ye, but don't mistake them for everyone, there are more that don't know of you, and as Steve points out that is for LDH or whichever body to correct. Brings to mind the cold war politics, when will we have moved on from a period of MAD (mutually assured destruction) to one of MAS (mutually assured survival)? Thats wot I fink we really need....but I don't kno much, just a hamster really....

You are right Steve, but there is a new feeling of openness breaking out I believe. A little while ago I was at a lecture being delivered in Lodge by one of our GL Officers who made the point the co-masonic lodges were out there. Wayne

I had no intention of causing problems honest.
I did not say UGLE I said.
Now I know Freemasons have a hard time using symbolism but as I clarified the point by explaining in plain English. I thought it was reasonably clear. If I have confused anyone I apologise.

Oh, with a little patience and effort, wee beasties don't do too bad: Bro. Bill, you misunderstand me. Woefully. But it'll just have to stay there cause I think I'm needed elsewhere

Perhaps you underrate the power of INTER(NET-working) forums. You won't believe your eyes when you see what is coming...

Going off on a bit of a tangent here...and no drawing any firms conclusions I hasten to add, just musings of an under occupied mind
FMT and MQ merged, MQ in effect absorbing FMT and so far appearing to continue FMT's founding principle of reporting on the world of freemasonry as a whole I feel we could be moving towards a time of greater co-operation between the larger organising units of freemasonry as a whole.

That would be nice if it were to be the case.
I for one cancelled my sub to FMT and switched to The Square as I feared that once joined to MQ and run under the auspices of UGLE it would become a tame house mag.
Here's hoping.

Michael Baigent, is still the editor and he is no push over. he has for some time suffered with heart trouble i think. So I suspect it was convenient for both sides.
I have been a fan of his for some years, this is in the news section of summer 2008 issue.

I have met both of the Brethren mentioned in that article. Bro Alan Bergin who's late brother David, also a Mason, I knew well when I visited him with David in 1994 and attended St Marks Lodge, and last year I had the pleasure of Meeting Bro Karen Kidd when she did the Grand Tour with Bro Cora.
It is good to hear that Bro Alan is still around and I hope he is enjoying himself overseas.

Another woman of Freemasonry noted in FMT. www.freemasonrytoday.com/44/p05.phpLady Mason Wins Major Award There was an international entry for the Internet Lodge Short Papers Competition, sponsored by Lord Northampton, the Pro Grand Master, and this worldwide flavour was reflected in the winners. Of the 77 entries received, 70 were valid for entry into the competition. Entries were received from 16 countries – Australia, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, England, Greece, India, Italy, Lebanon, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, Thailand, USA and Wales. There were three award categories: The Northampton Award for the best paper overall, the World Award for the best short paper by a Mason who is not a member of a Lodge under the UGLE and the Nova Award for a Brother who has been a member of the Craft for less than five years and has not been Master of a Lodge. The winner of the Northampton Award is Alan Bergin. His paper is entitled Were King Solomon’s Pillars Hexagonal? Alan was originally a Dorset Mason and is currently living and working in Tenerife, a member of 117 Tenerife Lodge under the Grand Lodge of Spain. The World Award prize went to Karen Kidd for her paper I am Regular. Ms Kidd is a member of Shemesh Lodge No. 13 under the Honourable Order of American Co-Masonry in Seattle. The Nova Award was won by Michael Halleran of Emporia Lodge, Kansas, with his paper Tomato, To-Mah-To – Shibboleths Beyond the Craft. Michael also presented another paper to Quatuor Coronati Lodge two weeks before the Internet Lodge presentations. Competition judges were Rich van Doren from the USA., Alan Tibbetts from Canada, Steve Burgoyne from South Africa, Andreas Rizopoulos from Greece and Alan Wyer and Stephen Wall, both from the UK. The overall quality of the papers was such that the international judging panel had difficulty in choosing the winners. The winners were announced on 14th March at Freemasons’ Hall, Bridge Street, Manchester, with the Pro Grand Master presenting the prizes. The success of the competition means that it is all set to become an annual event. Details will be on the Internet Lodge website, www.internet.lodge.org.uk shortly.
