Carl Claudy, in is "Masonic Harvest" said "there seems to be small doubt" this Lady was made a Mason in an other wise Malecraft Lodge. I devote a chapter in my book to her. I find her case interesting because her initiation was in the decade prior to that of Maria Deraismes While Barkoczy's initiation did not, itself, lead to Co-Masonry, and she was far from the first woman ever initiated into Freemasonry, she did set a precedent of sorts.
As you say, this is a much repeated story. Masonic scholars often quote this story from each other without citing their source (which, in other branches of scholarship, would be called "plagerism"). Therefore, I cannot be sure exactly where parts of your post come from. I would appreciate it if you could cite the source for us.
