You will find the study of the Tree of Life of GREAT VALUE. I don't know how it can be "gone beyond" in one lifetime, the ramifications extend in all directions and the applications are innumerable. I think any Mason who wishes to understand Masonry should take up the study of Hermetic Qabalah. Royal Arch Masonry is heavily Qabalistic; in fact I am absolutely convinced that the whole Rite in its unrevised form as recounted in the books of Knight and Lomas describes the retrieval of a glyph of the TOL.

Royal Arch Masonry is heavily Qabalistic Quite so Nevertheless some may feel that the sphere of the Holy Arch is not well suited to the later application of the parallel lines of the ToL

Which ones? The horizontal or the vertical? In any case, I think the study of the Qabalah would certainly help a LOT of Masons understand their tradition a LOT better; I certainly discovered that a lot of things i did not understand in esotericism were made perfectly clear once I applied Qabalistic princilpes to them. However there is one caveat in Qabalistic study; you must have your correspondences committed to memory! No tables of reference; having everything in your head is absolutely crucial to the method. That way, you will get to find out first hand why the Tree of Life is sometimes referred to as 'The Talking Tree"

The Qabalah is indeed valuable and has a close relationship to Masonic ritual and symbolism
The correspondences however constitute the weakest point in my view as the images seen by the authorities of old may or may not be reliable guides to the inner worlds - then or now.
I prefer a numerical system as being more suited to experiential exploration of new territory
