Hi everyone. I am delighted to announce that my wife Michelle and I will be Raised to the Sublime Degree on Saturday February 14th 2009. And as can be imagined we are looking forward to this day with great excitement and anticipation. I did a bit of checking on the Internet for some possible significance for this date (apart from it being Valentines Day, that is ) and came up with an amazing amount of stuff on the sites below, nothing I noticed of Masonic interest but very interesting enough all the same: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_14www.thepeoplehistory.com/february14th.html

It's a terrible pity that owing to another duty which I cannot get out of I will be unable to attend your Raising. However, I will be with you in spirit and will raise a glass to you both at 9pm.
Please give my Fraternal Best Wishes to the Brethren of your Lodge.

Thanks Bro. Steve.
It would have been wonderful if you could have made it but I appreciate why it isn't possible. I will certainly pass on your best wishes to everyone.

Thank you. Just six days to go. The weather here is really terrible, much the same as other parts of these islands, really but hopefully things will have eased off by the time Saturday the 14th come around.

Don't mind the weather Bro. Leo. Even if it is snowy and terrible, that itself can add much to the degree. My own raising happened in the middle of a snow storm. Some brothers who'd planned to attend could not make it after all, the weather was so bad. I could see the deep snow outside, the flakes still coming down, thru a window just before the ceremony began in the temple upstairs and . . . it did add much to the degree for me. As I'm sure it will for both of you, whatever the weather. Good luck to you

Yes, I remember you mentioning yours was in terrible weather and at one time you thought it might not go ahead but just reading your comments it's all coming back to me Thank you for that, I feel we'll be alright as things seem to be letting up a bit and apparently next weekend is going to be fine. So, fingers crossed Wayne, thank you for your good wishes too.

Glad to hear it, Patrick -- for the first time in my life I am worried about flight conditions. Not so much the bumpy ride (I'm an ATC gal; I can take it!) but whether the flight will actually go ahead. So far, so good...

With the way things are at the moment you have every reason to be cautious. However, the weather forecast for Friday in southern Ireland is looking better, this according to Sky's long range forecast (Accessed via Sky Active and number 6) So, fingers crossed that you'll be able to make it.

May the weather be clear, the sky sunny and way straight and direct. And if it is not, may Bro. Cora find a dog sled team willing to tuck her in with the cargo It will be a great day, Bro. Leo

Leo Thanks Bro. Karen. What a great post, by the way. I feel better about this already - I think it's the image in my mind of Cora arriving on a snow sleigh that done it for me I was just checking the long range weather forecast again this morning (I don't believe I have ever taken this much notice before) and it really does look good for the weekend coming.

All the best to you and Michelle for your forthcoming raising, I'm sure you will enjoy it.
I'll probably be nursing a hangover tomorrow as I'm off to my local whisky tasting club tonight.

Thanks Chris and Bob. Your comments are very much appreciated.
Just to say I have Bro. Cora and her delightful husband Patrick here in the house at the moment, they arrived safe and sound after an apparent bumpy flight with Ryan air.
Off to Lodge early tomorrow to be Raised so an early night is a must. I'll let you all know how things went.
Thanks again for all the good wishes.

Wow! I have seen this noun used before by others when describing their feelings after being Raised and now I understand why. What an amazingly moving and emotive experience to go through; those of you who have already been through it will know where I am coming from, those who have yet to do so have something incredibly special to look forward to. Michelle and I are immensely grateful to all who participated or facilitated in some way on the day of our Raising. We were fortunate and delighted to have gone thought this life changing ceremony in the presence of many distinguished and prominent guests, including the V Ills Bro Brian Roberts 33° We are also delighted that Bro:. Cora Burke could make it over, her assistance in getting us to this stage of our Masonic journey has been nothing short of wonderful. So, to have her here on the day (and for the weekend with her husband Patrick, who ended up being our official assistant babysitter ) has been a real privilege and an honour. We appreciate others, too, wanted to be here for this occasion but due to circumstances simply couldn't make it. Anyway, thanks to you all for your wonderful comments and good wishes, you have been tremendous in your support so far and for that you have our eternal gratitude. Freemasonry has so far afforded my wife and I some tremendous opportunities, it is a most pleasing way of life and we are thoroughly enjoying all the excellent experiences it brings our way.
