TDC = The Da Vinci Code.
I am sure it has sparked interest. However, no one I know who has joined since The Lost Symbol's release has made any indication their interest was ignited by the book, conversely I know a fair amount who became interested and joined after reading the Da Vinci Code.

I had a guy just the other day say that book inspired him to look into Masonry. I gave him some contacts where he lived. Dan Brown doesn't do much for me, but if someone else gets something valuable from it, I'm all for it!

Well KnOs1s, the reason I asked about it was because I was reading something on Freemason information. It said something about the hype that the book brought to Freemasonry was gone.

I don't think there ever was a 'hype' so to speak except on the book sales side. Did people join because they the the Davinci Code? *shrug* Probably. If by 'hype' it is meant people wanting to join because they read Dan Brown, I'd say it is apparently not gone. The individual I spoke to was the first one who ever said he'd like to join because of a Dan Brown book. Rarely has a Mason brought up Brown to me. Those that did have been Masons for far longer than me, but that's just my experience. I must have missed the 'hype'. Maybe in the bigger cities?

There was a fair amount of hype about this book simply on account of its connection with Dan Brown and the Da Vinci Code, however, for me it did not live up to its promise. I know many a brother who read it and thought it an interesting enough read, but nothing more.

I noted the hype, just not in regards to it being talked about by Freemasons or people joining based on any Dan Brown book. It wasn't a bad book, but I didn't learn anything new regarding Masonry.
