Will having an entry level seperation from the military prevent me from becoming a Freemason?Yes I have an entry level separation from the Service and plan to go right back in and fix this once I'm done with college.
However eventually when I apply to join the Freemasons will this keep me from joining even after I get back in the Service? Also is this is even worth mentioning or do they ask such things? I'm not saying that I will lie about anything but is it even worth bringing up? I just don't know how to handle this. thank you all for your time and advice and please be as honest with me as possible!

Well I ask this because I have heard that Freemasons will not take anyone with less then an Honorable Discharge. I mean again like I said I am going back in after I am done with college but I was just wondering if this would be an issue.

Sir, the reason that you received an entry level separation may be pertinent. Did you leave the service or were you removed? Of course you don't need to answer that here but the answer to that question could be a problem if it is brought up.

I am not an American nor have I ever been in the Armed Services of any Country but I cannot see that this would be a problem if there was no "dishonourable" aspect.
Perhaps one of the US Brethren who post here could help with this matter?

To my knowledge, in our jurisdiction, ones military record is not checked. I suppose it could be but I havent been on an investigation committee yet.

Besides, there are issues which the military may consider dishonourable, but which the rest of us simply have no problem with.

Depends upon the lodge really. Some lodges are full of veterans from several conflicts that may frown upon other than honorable separation. Of course discussion on the pertinent points of the separation from military service can alleviate its effect.

Greetings, Besides, there are issues which the military may consider dishonourable, but which the rest of us simply have no problem with. A dishonourable discharge is a very serious matter. 'If the question is asked' then it would be best to just come clean when you are interviewed. For example, if you went AWOL 20 years ago then your Lodge should know. Being honest is more important to your Lodge in the end. Just my point of view.
