I have a Samsung Impression that I can go days without charging , and I am always playing with my aps on it , listening to music , looking at all my pictures stored on it or on the phone itself , it has had longest battery life out of any cell phone I have owned . Now my old iPhone and iPod touch were/are always hooked up to the charger , their battery life sucks , I had to charge each a couple of times a day and you can not change the battery yourself when it comes time to replace it as you can any other phone , it has to be sent off to Apple and then I had to go without a phone the entire time . They are now both collecting dust in a drawer .

I work to the following system. Put the mobile on charge next to my bed at night and take the charger with me if I am going somewhere. Thus I am still able to receive communications if needs be, I have a 89 year old father in Scotland. I wear the phone during the day on a belt holster. I have found that an overnight charge every night when I am asleep is more than suffcient to give me service during the day. Then again I use the mobile mostly to receive calls, texts, and e-mails, (it's a Blackberry), and use its GPS to get directions when I am in a place I do not know.

Do anyone have any thoughts on the respective merits of the Blackberry / iPhone / Google (Nexus One) phones? At some point soon I'm going to have to get a phone on which I can read and respond to e-mails, but I don't know which way to turn S&F, R.

Greetings, Do anyone have any thoughts on the respective merits of the Blackberry / iPhone / Google (Nexus One) phones? At some point soon I'm going to have to get a phone on which I can read and respond to e-mails, but I don't know which way to turn S&F, R. There are a number of sites that have up-to-date information with a top 10 list etc. If you are a business man then I would suggest the latest Blackberry WITH touch-screen. It is all a matter of personal taste and needs. I still use a Palm Tro 680 (PDA) which is just great for my needs. I prefer a 'fixed' set of keys and touch-screen. Get as much info as possible and go to a shop and get the feel of the different kinds that are on the market. I bought my Palm at Pittsburgh Airport 3 years ago and it's been just great for my needs. I also got a great deal with a lot of extras as well, so it is well worth taking your time. Good luck,

I live in the dichotomy of being a simultaneously a technophile and a luddite. I love this technology you show! ;D Do anyone have any thoughts on the respective merits of the Blackberry / iPhone / Google (Nexus One) phones? At some point soon I'm going to have to get a phone on which I can read and respond to e-mails, but I don't know which way to turn S&F, R. Get a tin can and string. All this other techno-nonsense is useless crud that will give you cancer; throw it away. Or buy a carrier pigeon; at least they can fertilize and are "green".

I used to have a PalmPilot back in the late 90s (no phone, just a PDA in those days, of course) and was very happy with it. At the moment, though, I'm tempted by Goat Rider's tin can S&F, Neil

My Mother in law got a samsung and her battery life sucks too. Good to find someone with a different experience. The best battery life I ever had was my Motorola Razor. That would go for a week straight.

I've used all makes of phone and trialled iPhones and Blackberrys in particular. A phone that's reliable, fun and easy to use is essential for me. The business part of me needs push email and SatNav in my pocket and a large database of satnav POIs is useful too. I like to listen to music so I've been using iPhones as my main phones since Gen 1, now using a 3GS. I tried using various Blackberry's but the attachment handling (lousy) and music capabilities didn't suit me. Still got a Nokia N95 that I use for backup. It's OK .. The camera's 7mp ish and quite useful. One of my kids has an Android that looks very good so far, though the apps aren't as comprehensive as iPhone yet. Battery life is going to be a problem on anything that runs 3G. I had a Nokia that would last 3 days between charges, but only if I didn't use it If you're spending your day updating facebook, using push email, surfing the net and making lots of calls no 3G phone is going to last a full day unless you use a bulky high capacity battery. I simply cannot allow the battery to go flat so I carry a "Power Monkey" auxilliary charger. Gives me 3 charges wherever I am. Hope this helps. Jules
