I started watching since yesterday and am enjoying it immensely. As of writing England and the USA are nicely poised at 1-1. Be interesting to see how this turns out.

Honours even at the end; a 1-1 draw. But I thought England played well enough to win, but it just wasn't to be. In their opening match in the 1966 campaign they also drew and went on to eventually win.

USA played very well. green made a silly mistake for the goal, but he did make up with a couple of good saves.
But the US team have made massive progress on the soccer field.

One has to admire the persistence of the USA team; they never gave up and ultimately deserved their draw. As for England’s goal keeper, I think he [and England] will bounce back from the episode. These are the early days of this championship, so much to look forward to.
The next game I am looking forward to is the one between German and Australia; it’s on tonight at 7.30. Germany should win but the Aussies will make it difficult.

This is shaping up to be a tough tournament. Go show so far. I did think that Rooney was about to snap. That man has quite the temper.

Rooney had a poor showing against the USA, but maybe trying to keep himself in check made it more difficult to be as expressive as he would normally be......or maybe he's just holding back for later. Time will tell I am eagerly awaiting tonight's match with German and Australia...should be a cracker!

4 nil, wow. I expected a better show from the boys from Down Under. This may be one of the best tournaments in a bit. I am of course losing focus when I am supposed to be on the study and my current research project is suffering a bit, but hey, science will always be here - the Cup only happens every 4 years. I can not sleep for a month.
I have seen Rooney play far better than he did. I hear that our tender may be injured, I don't know how bad but I assume it had something to do with a cleat to the chest. He did hold out for the rest of the match and did a fantastic job, sometimes without a back line but that is a different story. I certainly hope that he is well mended before the next match. We need him.

I was not shocked to see Ghana step up. I have been quite impressed with them over the last few years. Cote d'Ivoire I am expecting a good show from. I am intersested to see how les Bleus. They could do well or completely bomb. They have Henry but lack Zidane. It should be interesting.

One last note before I turn in. It wasn't a sloppy goal, it was a busted save. Green didn't bring his A game and USA took advantage. That is just the way it is.
Great match the USA had against one of the best teams in the Cup. I am proud of the boys.

The Germans we masterful and are setting the bar for everyone else. Could it be a 4th time for them? The Australians looked totally dejected after the first two goals but tried nonetheless to get back in to the game, but it wasn't to be. if anything they were lucky they only lost 4 nil.
As an Irishman I am hoping for France to have an early exit; Thierry Henry's unsportsmanlike behaviour in France's qualification match against Ireland are still strong in the minds of many back here.
As for the USA. Got to agree, they played a blinder against England. I wish them even more success.
The big game for me tonight will be Italy v Paraguay. Be interesting to see the current champions play, but apparently they are not as good as they were four years ago.

I am waiting to pass judgement on Green, I noticed that some of the other keepers had problem with a clean catch of the ball.
Its a bit early to say more but lets see if anyone else has problems.

The England manager has already complained about the ball. He might have a point, I have heard it's lighter than balls used before.
Green was unfortunate but one has to give the USA credit for their never give-up attitude. Quite inspirational, if you ask me.

I noticed the Ghanain keeper, who was quite brilliant, went to hold what seemed an easy catch and the ball went straight up into the air, so we will see as things progress.

I saw an almost identical thing happen today with the Dutch keeper, however he was fortunate enough to save the goal. Bad match so far between Holland and Denmark. 0-0 at half time. Let's hope for a better second half..............just spotted Holland got a goal, an own goal. So, 1 nil to Holland

Holland win 2-0. Well done to them. It wasn't a convincing victory in my opinion and nor have they shown they're a side that will go all the way.

The Italy v Paraguay match was not as expected. 1-1 draw.
From their performance tonight it's difficult to see the current champions successfully defending their title.

Big up to Paraguay. I expected Italy to win 2-0. This may come down to Germany and Brazil.
