Raised two weeks ago, being installed as secretary tomorrow night.
Thing is, the past WM of my lodge does not recognize me as being a Mason. I've proved my self after being tried by others, but he's one of these " if you GrandFather, and Father, weren't , then neither are you, types. " it's caused the lodge to die the last couple of decades, and I and the current roster of officers are dedicated to fix that. But this one guy keeps new members away by basically blackballing everyone. Only reason I didn't is because they held a special meeting to vote on my petition, just to get me in the door.
We are going lights on in a few weeks, and this guy says he's already sending letters to the State Grand Lodge protesting ME. So, yeah I don't feel very welcomed at the moment. The other guys are great. How should I handle him ?
I plan on doing lot in the future and thought I'd introduce my back story, so you know what I'm up against when I ask for advice.
Anyhow, greetings from MilesCity Montana, YellowStone Lodge #26. I've lurked around here for awhile, and I got to say all you guys sound pretty top notch.

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear your having some problems. I hope things work out OK.
I can tell you this, I have been Secretary several times, Treasurer a few times , done every office in Lodge and been Master of 2 Lodges. You have to toughen up. You will be criticised by many on your way through your Masonic career.
You have two objectives, to stay true to your obligations and to do what is best for your Lodge. if others forget their obligations and look after their own backsides, there is nothing you can do about that.

Well....we were all sitting in the lodge waiting for the opening and instalation of officers, when that guy got word I was going to take my seat as secretary and treasurer that night. Yelling from the hall way was heard, and doors slamming, it wasn't pretty.
Glad to say YellowStone #26 has a few new officers, and fresh blood in the order. The lodge is about to loose it's charter if we don't turn things around, situation is dire, but with the crew we have now and petitioners to initiate, we may save a dieing lodge. To me that's the most important thing. I've seen a lodge die, all it's stuff was auctioned off and building sold. Items that were sold, I felt should not have been, but at the time did not know exactly how important they really were. I know now that the items should not have been sold at all, another lodge should have gotten them.
I gotta go, I have paperwork to do......lots....... Thanks for everything guys, this forum is a great source for ideas and grandness.
