I was wondering how long it takes before contact is made when applying for membership into Masonry. I applied back in febuary, and somebody said that they would be in contact soon. I still have not heard anything after all this time. Would it be worth me e-mailing them again or contacting them, or do you have to wait.

When I became a Freemason - I did it wrong. In my Grand Lodge we take anyone off the street. The committee of investigation asks three questions - are you old enough - Do you believe in God? - any felony convictions and you can make the check out to the lodge. References are never checked. The committee meets the candidate with the intent of getting the check - We often only see these guys for their degree work and then they never return - and commit the cardinal sin of not paying dues. We are doing a terrible job guarding the West Gate - We have become a Master Mason machine - spitting them out. We have degree work all the time - which leaves no time for Masonic education - making men better - Take your time -don't be in a hurry - eat with the men of the lodge before lodge is open even if you can't attend lodge. The men of my lodge are basically friendly - but the expectations of a band of brothers is often disappointed.

The practice of Freemasonry in Indonesia has been illegal since 1962, when it was banned by Sukarno.
