I'm wondering if anyone in history has ever been in RAM without being in Mark. I really like the former but not the latter.

I seem to recall reading that when the Masonic Knights Templar was first established it used RAM as the introductory degree.
In a sense the symbolism was reversed. The originating pattern of RAM is overtly much older than KT. This can be seen in that RAM takes its rise from before the existence of the VSL. Since the human race has always had teachers (according to every native tradition that I have seen) then RAM must predate the human race.

Thank you, Peter. I wonder if the following procedure is possible ?
1. Join a Mark Lodge. 2. Join its associated RAM Lodge. 3. Resign from the Mark Lodge.

Without knowing the local rules, I suspect that membership of the "junior" lodge is required for membership of the senior lodge.
But, in my experience this is not always enforced.
For myself, once the initial psychological impact of Mark was digested, I did not find much of interest.
RAM, however, despite its simplicity, continues to be magnetic. I suspect that there are sponsors from on high that take an interest.
I used to be in a meditation group that dealt with cosmic flows. One of the members often had the fish people (annedotus) arrive from behind. I thought they were sponsors for RAM. And another member at the same time would have the original KT turn up. They would come to her also when on sacred sites.
This suggests to me that the on-high sponsors of some of the Masonic degrees are still active.
