I live at Mitcham. I was initiated passed and raised at Croydon but my mother lodge folded. Even though I don't like the £10 admission fee I might come along. Well there be bouncers? If we leave the lodge will our hands be stamped with infra-red ink?

The Prov Tyler will be there with drawn sword to cut off your hands should you not pay....(smile) The fee will be payable before you go upstairs...and I think you have to pay before via the booking form I personally do not like any fees to be paid for any meeting but can also understand why they do it for special meetings like a Consecration ... not many done these days anywhere in England and Wales... and as numbers are limited to about 200 at Croydon main temple, its a way of putting people off just to go to the meeting and not dine... if you dine there is no fee, I believe. Of course probably most of the money will go to the PGM 2019 Festival....and he will want to get in as much money as he can, and nothing wrong in that, as he will be giving up probably in June 2016. And the Lodge will have to pay for the hire of the temple and for the PGM.s and perhaps one or two others meals etc etc... although personally having been a founder member of a lodge we made sure that we had enough in the pot to pay for everything long before the Consecration meeting - but that was before the crash and money is not quite so fluid these days as it was then.

I'm in a similar Lodge, Mid-Surrey Masters, or Midsomer Murders, as I call it. Because it has loads of members, over a hundred, the annual fee is pretty low: £40. Its initiation fee is high: £1,000! That's because it is a Past Master's Lodge and does not initiate.
