Some of the reasons that the Templars could rise from nowhere to being the dominant economic and military force in such a short time are discussed and hypothesized in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. www.amazon.co.uk/Holy-Blood-Grail/dp/0224017357/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1523661893&sr=1-2&keywords=holy+blood+holy+grailWhile the book is denigrated by many, I used the book as a travel guide to France and found there is even more material on the ground than covered in the book. The takeaway is that the Templars emerged from a pre-existing secret organization that held genuine knowledge. Similarly Freemasonry emerged from a pre-existing secret organization that held genuine secrets. The question then is: Are they the same secret organizations?
