This post is really put up as a reply to an interesting comment made recently by member Peter2.
Walter de la Mare wrote a petrifyingly scary ghost story called All Hallows. This story is very hard to get hold of, but thankfully there is an excellent radio version available on YouTube. It is also available at archive.org. Search for Black Mass All Hallows.
The story was based on an eerie visit that Walter de la Mare had made to that most distant of British cathedrals, St David's Cathedral in Wales.
The version at YouTube, available here: Black Mass: All Hallows is a one-man show by the superb Eric Bauersfeld: he single-handedly did a complete series of similar stories quite brilliantly. They are all worth listening to. Kafka's A Country Doctor is also a standout.
The show is 40 minutes long. There are other versions of the same story available that are more faithful renderings of the story: Richard Grant did one, but Mr Bauersfeld's will always be ny favourite.
Let me know what you think!
