The current Grand Master of England, the Duke of Kent is now 83.
He has been GM since 1967 and he might be getting a bit sick of it: most men only do 10-20 years in the office.
If he were to give the job up in about 2 years, who would take his place?
Princes Charles, Harry and William are all out.
Perhaps UGLE will go back to choosing commoners. How about comedian Jimmy Carr? Or Stephen Fry?
Or someone from abroad! If he was available I would love to see Franz, Duke of Bavaria give it a go. He is apparently the current Stuart pretender to the English throne, although he might not be a Freemason.
I quite like Spencer Compton, 7th Marquess of Northampton as well. He is a very interesting man. He is a Buddhist, I believe, and the owner of the Roman Seveso Hoard.
Any other suggestions?
