> Hiram referred to in the passage from the Jewish Encyclopedia may be the other Hiram, the prince of Tyre
Quite right I had forgotten some of the details.
I rather suspect that the HR root is given different vowels in different traditions:
- Heru - Horus - Hercules - Hermes - Hera - Hiram
All those are heroes.
Horus was the son of the Widow Isis - by artificial insemination - and later he raised his father Osiris.
This was preserved in the first version of the 3rd degree where Noah was raised by his sons
Now the father of Hiram King of Tyre was Abibaal. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abibaal
Abibaal means: Baal was my father. This means that HKT was the grandson of Baal. Baal means lord and can either refer to a god or a husband. The name Abibaal would indicate that the Baal was so well known that he did not need to be named.
So do we have a more specific name for HKT's grandfather?
If the grandfather was Osiris then HKT was related to Hiram Abiff - and the name Hiram starts to look as if it means "prince"
Apparently 'Abi' could also be used as a proper name:
Hiram [N] [H]
high-born. Generally "Huram," one of the sons of Bela ( 1 Chronicles 8:5 ).
Also "Huram" and "Horam," king of Tyre. He entered into an alliance with David, and assisted him in building his palace by sending him able workmen, and also cedar-trees and fir-trees from Lebanon ( 2 Samuel 5:11 ; 1 Chronicles 14:1 ). After the death of David he entered into a similar alliance with Solomon, and assisted him greatly in building the temple ( 1 Kings 5:1 ; 9:11 ; 2 Chr 2:3 ). He also took part in Solomon's traffic to the Eastern Seas ( 1 Kings 9:27 ; 10:11 ; 2 Chr 8:18 ; 9:10 ).
The "master workman" whom Hiram sent to Solomon. He was the son of a widow of Dan, and of a Tyrian father. In 2 Chronicles 2:13 "Huram my father" should be Huram Abi, the word "Abi" (rendered here "my father") being regarded as a proper name, or it may perhaps be a title of distinction given to Huram, and equivalent to "master." (Compare 1 Kings 7:14 ; 2 Chr 4:16 .) He cast the magnificent brazen works for Solomon's temple in clay-beds in the valley of Jordan, between Succoth and Zarthan.
I think is better to go back before the Jewish accounts. Their scribes were inclined to plagiarize and alter earlier accounts to make their god and themselves the center of existence. Genesis is obviously plagarized from the Sumerian accounts.
Granted English is probably the worst language to uncover truth within numbers, degrading itself through time. It works with names

Good point. Is there a trusted source that contains all of the Sumerian tablets? They seem scattered at best.
I rather like the writings of Sitchin. His translations infuriate the academics but they seem pretty good to me - bearing in mind that he takes a materialist approach to subjects that are often based on etheric technology.
I had a dream many years ago in which two brothers were featured... they told me they were sitchins (?!) Sometime later, I Googled the word... and it was only then that I discovered it was a person's name..Zacharia Sitchin, scholar and author. His translation of the Sumerian Tablets tells in part the story of two brothers. I was fortunate enough to correspond with Mr Sitchin for a short time before his death. He told me he shared my story with his audience at the Philadelphia Library.
To the initiated Builder the name CHiram Abiff signifies "My Father, the Universal Spirit, one in essence, three in aspect." Thus the murdered Master is a type of the Cosmic Martyr--the crucified Spirit of Good, the dying god--whose Mystery is celebrated throughout the world. Among the manuscripts of Dr. Sigismund Bastrom, the initiated Rosicrucian, appears the following extract from von Welling concerning the true philosophic nature of the Masonic CHiram:
"The original word חירם, CHiram, is a radical word consisting of three consonants ח ר and ם i. e. Cheth, Resh and Mem. (1) ח, Cheth, signifies Chamah, the Sun's light, i. e. the Universal, invisible, cold fire of Nature attracted by the Sun, manifested into light and sent down to us and to every planetary body belonging to the solar system. (2) ר, Resh, signifies ריח Ruach, i. e. Spirit, air, wind, as being the Vehicle which conveys and collects the light into numberless Foci, wherein the solar rays of light are agitated by a circular motion and manifested in Heat and burning Fire. (3) ם, or מ Mem, signifies majim, water, humidity, but rather the mother of water, i. e. Radical Humidity or a particular kind of condensed air. These three constitute the Universal Agent or fire of Nature in one word, חירם, CHiram, not Hiram."
>sitchin, I prefer the paper copy. Are there a large number of seals in this book?
He writes plainly but there is still the issue of a materialist approach when reality extends beyond matter.
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.”

H= 5 U= 6 R= 2 A= 1 M= 4 Using Kabalastic number symbolism(Hebrew alphabet) 18 signifies resurrection and life (both fitting for the cosmic cycle of Huram Abi) chai
Huram Abi the Allegory " Death of the Sun " In older astronomical/astrological legends Huram is slain by three Fellowcraft Masons = The sun is slain by three months toward the end of the year (Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius) the third proves most fatal The sun "dies" when it reaches its lowest point Dec 21
The sun is carried west by three winter signs. The sun is " buried " in a poor environment, little to no vegetation
N E S W signs of the zodiac made a search for the " body " It was found at the vernal equinox by Aries, making its resurrection
We see the fall of vegetation annually, it's death and rebirth at the vernal equinox
I am not certain of what rite in Masonry this would pertain to... There is a legend of a lost keystone - A circle with a point in the middle emblematic of the sun with the letters H.T.W.S.S.T.K.S bordering the circle " He that was slain soared to kindred spirits " The keystone is the summer solstice ( when the sun is at its strongest aprox June 21 ) This lost keystone is also symbolic the story of Huram Abi Huram Abi = God, the Father of Life
Adonis Perhaps a link with the Adoniramite tradition . Adhon can be traced to Phoenecian, Hebrew and possibly Sumerian ( Sumerian I'm not certain with) correct me if I'm wrong Isis and Osiris Adonis and Tammuz
