Hi there, I am a 3rd degree MM of Lodge Concordia 226, SANT freemasons (South Australia). Our lodge is unique, in that we practice the Schroder ritual which has been sanctioned by grand lodge back in 1981. We are one of very few international lodges that do so. Our ritual was translated from German into English, although once a year we do the ritual in German. (Usually done by our German speaking members). The ritual has many peculiarities to the blue lodge ritual and I would like to explain some to you that will not betray my obligations in any way.
The lodge is set up differently, with both SW & JW facing the WM from the west. The JW is placed in the SW corner and the SW in the NW corner. We do not expose a tracing board for any of the degrees but rather have a masonic carpet placed on the pavement.
The words, grip and signs are the same, however our knocks are a little different to blue lodge.
As parisfred mentions above we do form a chain at the end of our rituals and also at festive board. I think this is one of the most alluring of our ritual and creates a bond between brethren that is real and felt. Certainly my first experience with it was a wonderful moment and made me feel I truly belonged to the brotherhood.
We also wear our regalia a little different with aprons worn under our jacket, as opposed to over the top. Our EA's also wear their apron with the flap pulled upwards.
I am a reluctant to put any ritual on here as it is an open forum but I hope that I have given some insight into Schroder..
Frat Regards,
Bro Drew
