Most Mark lodges don't have an LoI, do any members know of a 'central' LoI for Mark, maybe at MMH?

We don't have one at present but our new WM wants to get one up and running.
However, being in Caerphilly, it may be of little help to you

Would be a bit far to travel.. Being new to Mark it would be nice to get some practice in and understand the floorwork a bit more.
I wonder how difficult it would be to get one set up in London? I'd need to find one or two Mark WM's willing to be preceptors, and so on, but I'd like to believe it would be well attended..

This is the problem not only in Mark and Chapter (RA) but even more so in the Higher Degrees. As most who are in these are in several, not to mention holding one of the Admin Offices in a Craft Lodge and possibly even Acting Provincial Rank then it is not practical to have LOI as in Craft, usually just a quick rehearsal before the Meeting. Also it is not unusual to be drafted at a moment's notice to fill in an Office but "reading" is condoned if you haven't done that job as an Appointed Office or it was a long time back.
Perhaps contacting your Mark Provincial Secretary and Prov Grand Scribe E in Royal Arch may be if use to discover any LOIs which may be held.

Thanks for that, taylorsman. Once a month would be sufficient for me, as you say with other commitments it can be tricky to fit it all in.
I'll have a chat with one or two people I know in London Mark, altho I am middx it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It's either that or get lots of invites to Mark lodges and be keen!
I did notice that reading or not being word perfect is less of an issue in mark, as is 'you're IG tonight' or something similar...

True Bod, even more so in the Higher Degrees. Some Provincial RA Chapters are as starchy as their associate Craft Lodges about this but London Chapters are a bit more relaxed in this respect, as indeed is Mark generally where Visitors are often asked to fill an Office at the drop of a hat.

London Chapters are a bit more relaxed in this respect, as indeed is Mark generally where Visitors are often asked to fill an Office at the drop of a hat. Tell me about it - at our Mark Installation last month (I was a Steward going into the ceremony) the DC came up to myself and a few others and asked us if we had our Ritual books with us. On answering in the affirmative we were sent to get them and, for the purposes of opening the Lodge we became the Senior and Junior overseers and the Senior Deacon. At the investiture of officers we had to borrow a visitor to fill in as Master Overseer as the officeholder was not present and the trest of us all had offices to fill ourselves - I'm now IG. Fortunately that means I'll be JD in Mark at the same time as I go into the Chair in the Craft so not too much of a clash of words to learn (Installations are a fortnight apart) Wayne

Surely, if you don't have an Advancement, you could put a practice/LOI on the Agenda for a Regular meeting? Allow rituals to be used for the purpose of perfecting the wording and movement about the pavement etc., so that by the Advancement evening things would be fine. I find that doing LOI during a regular meeting actually brings more dignity to the practice as each Knows when to hold his tongue etc.
