Good progress They said we could go. Understand they will put us and other cowans in a side room Open and close the Lodge . then invite us all in for the lecture then after that out to the Dining part of the building...for Dinner.
I will be thinking of you all with your tales of Stewards etc, and I promise to be as quite as a mouse and not say anything that might wind anybody up...
Joking aside I am really looking forward to the 19th....

Brilliant news - it is a shame you can't join them in the Lodge room, but rules is rules, daft as they may be.
I would be really interested to hear your thoughts after the lecture.

Sounds like quite a sensible compromise to me, given the Rules in force.

Tonight is the Night, I am quite excited , Whilst we are attending as just ordinary people the neat thing, is that amongst our group will be the a 33rd , a couple of 32nd degree and 3 other senior Co-Masons - it is called brotherhood.- there will always be differences and obstacles but just the fact we will be able to sit down together proves that Freemasonry is bigger then any of us..

Brilliant - Whistler I hope you and your fellow masons have an enjoyable time this evening. Bod Thank you very much for starting our Journey. We had a great evening, The Remuera Lodge No. 1710, were most gracious hosts. The evening started with the Male Craft going into the lodge room, and opening and closing the lodge. Then we and all the other no masons went in and received the Lecture which was very interesting. I stood up during question time pointing out that there were six Co-masons present and what a pleasure it was for us to be there. After Question time we left the lodge room and went to dinner. The dinner was a most pleasant time.. No animosity, just welcoming friendly chatter both Masonic and no Masonic- between people who acknowledged each others Freemasonry. Gender was never debated. We discussed the common problems of recruitment, The Grey Haired Mumblers in the East, The we have always done it this way brigade.... the members who had gone from Comasonry to Male masonry, and the members that had gone from Male Masonry to Co-masonry, the different degrees we worked Not unlike chatting with Leo. In fact the whole Masonic evening was Freemasonry in action--- Great Night, Great Company Great Harmony Thanks again Bod

BRAVO! This is the way it should be, Whistler and I salute the Brethren of Remuera Lodge No. 1710 for their open minded approach. As you say we are all Freemasons. I hope the Lecture was also as interesting as meeting with the other Brethren.

YesTaylorman it was interesting his knowledge post 1900 was a little light, I am not sure how aware he is of Modern Freemasonry. One thing I did pick up on in our "Not in our Life Time debate" The UGLE Statement that at Least two Grand Lodges Lodges soley form Women are regular in their Practice - That is Progress give it another 100 years and I reckon Grand Lodges which admits both men and women, may become regular

Whistler
I can't tell you how much pleasure I have got from hearing the satifactory conclusion of this visit. I must confess I posted it to the forum with the hope that you and some of the other co-masons in the land of the long white cloud would make it - and you didn't disappoint.
And more importantly the English Constitution masons didn't disappoint either - an excellent example of what happens when you stop focussing on the differences and look at the similarities between us.

I'm glad Whistler and Co had an enjoyable visit to 1710. Give how UGLE is so criticised he may well have been expecting a most dour evening. Sounded like a typical festive board to me - perhaps things aren't crashing down around our ears just yet ;D ;D ;D

Quite right Bill - there is an awful lot of good in UGLE and it is quite often held up to be a mirror image of some of the less palatable traits displayed by some of it's members. But it is sooo much more than that.
