Hi,
I'm originally from Scotland, currently living in England and soon to move back to Scotland with my family, (June 2005). For a number of years now I've been interested in becoming a Freemason, however I've not felt the time to be right until of late, unfortunately now I am due to move back to Scotland with my family and will be moving to an area where I will know no Freemasons. I currently know 4 where I live and 2 of which I am quite close to, close enough I feel to enquire about Freemasonry. I feel though in 6 short months that we remain down south it would be wise for me to wait until I settle back home in Scotland before enquiring further.
I guess what I'd like to ask is when I return to Scotland can I approach a local lodge directly or should I wait until I speak with a Freemason in Inverness? Would this in any way spoil my chances in joining not knowing the person(s) that I will approach?
Regards
William

Hi Wills.
Not in a position to deal with your question. I am not yet a Mason. I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to the forum.

They have always been a more open about Freemasonry in Scotland than down here under UGLE, so the direct approach may well work better in GL of S territory. Perhaps Mr Mason, who is Scots could help here?

Hi Staffs, Wills Always glad to help. I have recently put 3 candidates and 1 affiliate who live south of the border through my lodge, with the appropriate dispensation granted by both UGLE and GLoS. So helping out a potential candidate who presently lives south of the border is not a problem.

The following is so true and we have seen this happen for Wills.
General Thoughts Of Masonry "The Initiated must not be informed but they must receive impressions, and they must be put into a certain attitude of mind, provided it be evident that they are prepared for it." ARISTOTLE

Wills
MrMason is an excellent contact - a very nice man and a very knowledgeable freemason.
Please continue to ask us questions on the forums, if there is something we don't feel we can answer we'll tell you nicely - and if we don't tell you it's 'cos we don't want to spoil any experiences you will have.
