In 1926 C W Leadbetter 33 Degree wrote "The Hidden Life in Freemasonry'. This picture is inside the front cover, and show the etheric temple formed over a working Lodge as he saw is clairvoyantly Annie Besant wrote of Leadbetter in the forward of his book, True Mason that he is, he is ever trying to spread the light which he has received, that may chase away the darkness of Chaos. To look for the light, to see the Light, to follow the Light, were familiar to all Egyptian Masons, though the darkness in that ancient land never approached the density which shrouds the west today This is an example of my Masonic education. I find I have similar Masonic values. Not all who "see' will see our lodge temple the same as CWL's pictures but many "sense' the other temple. Hope you enjoy the picture, and maybe you will think about the "Temple" that gets created when the Lodge is declared open, and the beings we share it with PS the thumbnail is worth a click

I have not seen anything like that. But I do sometimes get feelings inside Masonic Temples, and I have to admit UGLE itself (building as distinct from its temples).
Most Temples that I have been in I get zero feeling. But there are three which have left a noteable impression on me. These are the Provincial Grand Temple (I think that it is called) at Sindlesham (UGLEs Berkshire Province HQ), A temple in UGLE, which is small and which I understand to once have been the Grand Secretaries Office, and the third was a Co-Masonic temple where the GM kindly let me soak up the atmosphere which I felt as soon as I enterered.
There are others which have left their mark at a more mundane level (UGLE GL - wonderful interior door decorations) (GLoS GL - plain, simple and no doubt effective), but most of the temples that I have vistited have just felt bland and lifeless (these are all UGLE).

Stewart, You wouldn't.... The process of Opening a Masonic Lodge creates the temple, and when closing the etheric temple goes away

I beg to differ Whistler.
There are deffinate energies I "feel" when entering certain temples/Lodge rooms.:Weather open or not.
The picture you posted is an identical copy in my copy of the book, which I rated 10 on the thumbnail enlargement as its colour and rendering is correct.
The energies I noted above have various forms, when I perform on the pavement I usually get a burning sensation in my feet, when sitting in the Masters' Chair in an official capacity, my head sometimes appears to fill the room (This in a non egoistic sense). Both my wife and I usually end up with a Masonic headach the morning after a lodge meeting, almost as tho' we found the energies difficult to handle or control! This has not reduced our beleif in attending or discovering exactly what all this means.
All of this reinforces my observations that we build more than Brotherly friendship at Lodge meetings.

Hubert, Yes I agree that energies remain, but the specific etheric Temple has been Closed when the Lodge is closed. It is interesting when walking into a set up lodge before it is opened you can feel the energies starting to build . When a building is new and lodges haven't been meeting before, it does take a while for the energy to build up.. An established Lodge already has strong vibrations which help to build the "Temple" Re You Head ache and we touch on another area here, you don't have to put up with it. Send the thought out that you don't want it -- you will be surprised

Stewart, "different strokes" as they say but I would be hard pressed to think of a Masonic Temple which is so totally lacking in any atmosphere whatsoever as the Main Temple in Sindlesham, Berkshire. I find it a souless place, rather like a school assembly hall in character or one of those ghastly modern Churches and I actively avoid having to go to any Meetings there. Just about the most mundane place I can think of ! I wish the Province of Berkshire would sell it and and its land off to be demolished for good quality housing and fund a decent Masonic Centre and Temple in Reading.

Steve
Perhaps I should clarify re Sindlesham.
Sindlesham was the first time that I had any feeling in a Masonic Temple, but then again it was the first Temple that I had been in. I did not know what to make of it and got no real help from any of your brotehrs that I spoke to about it. It could be that it is no more than the fact that it was my first time in a temple. It certainly can't be classified in the same way as my feelings in the other two, both of which were much more powerful, though it does still remain with me.
Thinking about it I was in there with a provincial officer and after a while a flow of men entered the temple. They werent in aprons but I guess that they had come to set up. I remember saying to the provincial chap that perhaps I should leave and he readily agreed. I subsequently found out that it was a demonstration team.

Sorry that was the case Stewart, but frankly I am not that surprised. There are some Brethren who meet there who would have been a great help to you but I fear you must have got one who was not, possibly a "Social Clubber" or the likes and not a Freemason attuned to the deeper aspects. Now were you to visit Brighton and the Main Temple there I'm sure you would be enveloped by the ambience thereof!

I think there may be something to this "energy" thing one senses when one goes into certain buildings. I don't think, however, that this feeling of energy is unique to masonic lodges, I know I certainly had some strange feelings when I went to visit several Cathar castles a couple of years ago in the south of France. Some of these Cathar castles were outside Carcassonne and Narbonne and one in particular, Puis Laurent, I had a genuine feeling of a very strong currents of energy, an energy that I had never felt before.
It wasn't in any way frightening or uncomfortable but I certainly did feel rather strange, even a bit lightheaded. I have no satisfactory explanation for this. It has been suggested, however, that this could possibly be the energies left there by the Cathars themselves. Perhaps? Perhaps not?

Strange that Leo says hefelt lightheaded which is exactly my feeling at installation night on Friday when i was invested as inner gaurd. After receiving the Jewel of my office and sat down i sudenly realised the importance of my new position and the task ahead for the next few years.
There were 65 people present and the atmosphere was superb.
I have been invited to a Sussex Stewards installation next week at Worthing where it is expected 360 will be in attndance and i can only imagine the energy and atmosphere that will be created.

Don't get confused, the energies of buildings and places is one thing, The picture above is of a form built with energy created by specific actions. A Temple built at the opening a lodge meeting attracts an etheric being, who " overshadows" (for want of a better word} each office. This temple is not passive, it is active and combines with the lodge members to assist in the journey to the light - the quality of that etheric temple depends on the intent and contribution of the Freemasons attending. When the Lodge is closed and the etheric temple fades away , some of the energy used to build the temple remains in the room, being recharged at the next lodge meeting when that remaining vibration becomes one of the building blocks of the new temple to be built.. The longer a room is used as a Lodge Temple of quality, the stronger the residue the better the building blocks for the next "Temple "

Leonardo. If you go to any place inside or outside, pause and just "feel" the atmosphere you will become aware of a "feeling", it will be different in each place .

When you begin to notice trends in the places that you are receptive to such feelings (and I am not meaning Masonic Temples here) that does start making you think.
Whistler (or anyone who understands this)
Can I ask you for a little advice?
I was once in a place where I felt very comfortable and at home. This was repeated on another occassion when I visited, but on that subsequent occassion there was at one stage a distinctly separate feeling which was much more dark. Is this common?

Whistler...I understand perfectly were you're coming from in this regard. However, the energy that I felt in that particular Cathar Castle was somehow stronger and more difficult to define. I fully appreciate that now and again we will come across things that are extremely difficult to understand and explain. Some people may see more into these things/phenomenon than may be necessary. All I know is that it was a most interesting feeling, not at all frightening, but certainly compelling and made me feel like I wanted to remain there much longer.

Many reasons why you felt Here is just one - Supposing Reincarnation does occur - If you had been a Cathar in a past life. Another perhaps there had been a Great fight in the castle with many Killed... Have you ever been to Glen Coe, I have been with a Clark the atmosphere is very grim for many and this Old lady was really uncomfortable and wanted to get away as soon as possible

Stewart, This in part has to do with those present at meetings. A negative person, or one who continually disagrees in OPEN Lodge, can dramatically change the vibrations of any space. This is why in some oganisations "holy water" is spinkled to purify prior to a service. In Comasonry we always begin by censing the Lodge at the opening, just after we have all processed in. The Incense also purifies the Temple, and the number of swings at each Pedestal & to each Bro. is related to the Office hels or Degree attained. We also consider that this encourages the finer elementals to participate in our deliberations.
Back to the issue of negative feelings, one needs to Tile thoroughly, prior to the opening to also clear mundane influences that we bring along with us from the outside sphere.
