Taylorsman,
There is nothing I hold dear which is capable of suffering through brute violence. None of my beliefs, nothing I value, can in any way be assailed by anything other than a better argument, a more persuasive case, or a prettier sentiment.
If iconoclasm is possible, the icon is not worthy of adoration to begin with. There is no faith, no church, no ruler, no crown and no god which needs me to defend it: if it cannot repel insult effortlessly, it will not repay the effort of me lending my support to it. Is a wall any good if it take a man's arm to keep it from tumbling? Withdraw your hand, let gravity triumph: the wall was weak, and fell, but gravity cannot fall, nor can I hurt or help it in any way.
I have no sympathy for weakling faiths and febrile loyalties, which must be protected from unkind weathers and unsympathetic dissent. If a thing is not strong enough to laugh at itself, it's already dead. If it cannot take reasoned argument and the frank exchange of ideas, it really has no business being believed in or sweated over.
The venerable Compte is, I think you will accept, quite comprehensively deceased. In the absence of any evidence to even incline one to imagine otherwise, it is frankly an insult to insist upon tiptoeing around the issue. He's as dead as Groucho Marx, but he isn't worth the salt of him.

"For those people who believe in Ascended Masters He is very important - so we shouldn't mock him on the Forum. He is said to be the Chohan of the Seventh Ray [...]"
Sorry, folks, I fully intend to mock seven shades of 5hit out of him: he's dead, and from all I can tell so are his lawyers; which makes him a fake by my reckoning. A dead fake. Get over it.
And I am him, so there!
Ruff you are entitled to your beliefs and are certainly entitled to discuss them - my concern is the language you use. For those who believe in the Ascended Masters - which include a large number of Freemasons, expressions like "I fully intend to mock seven shades of 5hit out of him:" is not good and certainly not in the Spirit of this forum, at least I didn't think so. In the past one of the great thing about Staff's Forum, was that we all could discuss with respect other peoples views. I am sure there would be a whole army of protest if you made such comments about Jesus, St John, the Pope or other religious icons. Please Ruff your intellegent posts are always a delight - Just be a little more polite with people who do not share the same views as yourself -

Thanks Level, Now back to Topic - following Hubert "On the physical plane we partake of food by eating, about 72 percent of all protoplasm, however is oxygen, a large portion of which is partaken of through breathing. On the higher Astral, and on the spiritual plane, man no longer must eat organic substance to live, he no longer eats his fellows, for even plants are his kin - " In these higher realms he is nourished entirely through a process similar to breathing"

Perhaps Whistler and Hubert can elucidate. I had heard of the Compte many years ago, even as a teenager, but I also came across another "Ascended Master" called "Koot Hoomi" (have I spelt that correctly?"), Can you tell me anything about him (or her). Also are Jesus and Buddha considered as "Ascended Masters" or any other such figures from history give that appelation?

Hi Taylorsman, Koot Hoomi, there are one or two other spellings, was an enlightened master according to Theosophical & Alice Baily teachings. Both organisations have considerable literature regarding him and several other so called Masters. With the TS, exoteric members are left to their own interpretations, but if you belong to the Esoteric Section (A group within a group) it is a requirement to meditate/contemplate on their attributes. This is from my summations, as I am only an exoteric member of the TS.
Spiritual teachings (more like discussions as the TS has no dogmas) of the TS, does suggested that beings like the Buddha, Jesus, mohamad were all enlightened teachers in their own right, leading the way as it were. They also suggest that the Count is in the same vein.
I.E. ascended masters actually are beings that choose to continue in MORTAL life to assist ordinary beings to achieve their samew status - Freemasonry being one of the "tools" by which this can be enhanced/accelerated.

I thought his name was Hoot Koomi, I'm almost certain that was the form in which I first encountered the name, and it was in a discussion of some of the more - ah, recondite? - beliefs of the HOGD. Apparently the doctrine of the Secret Masters was one of the threads taken up from the Theosophical Society by the Inner Order of the Aur Boker.
It is said that some people had made insufficient seals between their inner and outer consciousness, resulting in reported meetings with Secret Chiefs in First Class on the 3.30 to Paddington; even of one who allegedly left his umbrella behind.
It's no concern of mine if someone chooses to believe in Ascended Masters. But with the same reasoning it's no concern of anyone else's if I choose not to. It isn't that I'm hard against believing the impossible. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. I'm sure I'm not alone in that - world peace; ladies' beach volleyball for our national sport; England to win the Six Nations; a united Ireland; Jim Davidson to tell a funny one; a British republic - it's just the specifics that differ from person to person.
So, if you want to believe in the objective reality of Ascended Masters, be my guest. Just respect my feelings that it's all a lot of hogwash.
