When you come across Masonic Words of Wisdom please post them here.
I came across the following recently.
Master Mason's Poem Last Night I Knelt Where Hiram Knelt
Author Unknown
Last Night I knelt where Hiram knelt
And took an obligation
Today I'm closer to my God
And I'm a Master Mason
Tho' heretofore my fellow men
Seemed each one like the other,
Today I search each one apart;
I'm looking for my Brother
And, as I feel his friendly grip,
It fills my heart with pride;
I know that while I'm on the square,
That he is on my side
His footsteps on my errand go
If I should such require;
His prayers will plead in my behalf
If I should so desire.
My words are safe within his breast
As though within my own;
His hand forever at my back
To help me safely Home.
Good counsel whispers in my ear
An warns of any danger;
By square and compass Brother now!
Who once would call me stranger.
I might have lived a moral life
And risen to distinctions
Without my Brother's helping hand
And fellowship of Masons
But God, who knows how hard it is
To resist life's temptations
Knows why I knelt where Hiram knelt
And took that obligation.

Show Me!
By Edgar Guest.
I would rather see a Mason than hear one any day, I would rather one would walk with me than merely show the way.
The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, Fine counsel is confusing, but examples are always clear.
And the best of all Masons are the men who live their creeds, For to see the good in action is what everybody needs.
I can soon learn how to do it if you'll let me see it done, I can watch your hands in action, but your tongue too fast may run.
And the lectures you deliver may be wise and true, But I'd rather get my lesson by observing what you do.
For I may misunderstand you and the high advice you give, But there's no misunderstanding how you act and how you live.

THE WORKING TOOLS OF AN E-MASON
(Perfect for members. Leo)
I now present to you the working tools of an E-Mason
They are the mouse....
the keyboard... and the modem.....
The mouse is to move within the desktop, the keyboard to input the data, and the modem to publish the data into cyber space.
But as we are not, however, Here assembled as Computer Nerds, but rather as Operative or E-Masons, and to us these tools that are downloaded as vehicles of moral significance and to show us the meaning of E-Masons.
And thus we apply them -
The mouse teaches us to keep within the bounds of the screen.
A square wherein which we must all meet.
The Keyboard to show us that communication will lead us to a better understanding to each other and the rest of mankind.
And the Modem to teach us that even when we are alone on the most remote part of the globe, we may meet and gain moral sustenance from each other and thus learn more of the wonderful works of the AAONMS.
So mote it be....

And I just thought that you started rewriting the rituals for this new order. Hey, would the first Lodge be the Internet Lodge then?

I belive it is the acronym for the full title of the Shriners - an organisation of Masons dedicated to charitable work primarily in the US though I do believe that there is a group in the UK. It is also an anagram of A MASON - which I believe was intentional Wayne

Correct on both counts Wayne. There is one shriners oasis in the UK, our brother Julian Smith is involved in it. AAONMS stand sfor 'Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine' For more info : www.shrinershq.org/shrine/shorthistory.html

If with pleasure you are viewing any work a man is doing, if you like him, or you love him, tell him now. Don’t withhold your approbation till the parson makes oration and he lies with snowy lilies on his brow. For no matter how you shout it, he won’t really care about it, he won’t know how many teardrops you have shed. If you think some praise is due him, now’s the time to give it to him, for he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead. More than fame and more than money, is the comment kind and sunny, and the hearty, warm approval of a friend. For it gives to life a saviour, and it makes you stronger, braver, and it gives you heart and spirit to the end. If he earns your praise - bestow it, if you like him let him know it, let the words of true encouragement be said. Do not wait till life is over and he is underneath the clover, for he cannot read his tombstone when he’s dead.

The ignorant Freemason is a drone and an incumbrance in the Order. He who does not study the nature, the design, the history, and character of the Institution, but from the hour of his initiation neither gives nor receives any ideas that could not be shared by the profane, is of no more advantage to Masonry than Masonry is to him. The true Mason seeks light that darkness may be dispelled, and knowledge that ignorance may be removed. The ignorant aspirant, no matter how loudly he may have asked for light, is still a blind groper in the dark.

The Inner Light by John Milton He that has light within his own clear breast May sit i' the center, and enjoy clear day: But he that hides a dark soul and foul thoughts Benighted walks under the midday sun; Himself is his own dungeon

When Is A Man A Mason?
When he can look out over the rivers, the hills, and the far horizon with a profound sense of his own littleness in the vast scheme of things, and yet have faith, hope, and courage which is the root of every virtue. When he knows that down in his heart every man is as noble, as vile, as divine, as diabolic, and as lonely as himself, and seeks to know, to forgive, and to love his fellow man. When he knows how to sympathize with men in their sorrows, yea, even in their sins knowing that each man fights a hard fight against many odds. When he has learned how to make friends and to keep them, and above all how to keep friends with himself. When he loves flowers, can hunt birds without a gun, and feels the thrill of an old forgotten joy when he hears the laugh of a little child. When he can be happy and high-minded amid the meaner drudgeries of life. When star-crowned trees and the glint of sunlight on flowing waters, subdue him like the thought of one much loved and long dead. When no voice of distress reaches his ears in vain, and no hand seeks his aid without response. When he finds good in every faith that helps any man to lay hold of divine things and sees majestic meanings in life, whatever the name of that faith may be. When he can look into a wayside puddle and see something beyond mud, and into the face of the most forlorn fellow mortal and see something beyond sin. When he knows how to pray, how to love, how to hope. When he has kept faith with himself, with his fellow man, and with his God; in his hand a sword for evil, in his heart a bit of a song -- glad to live, but not afraid to die! Such a man has found the only real secret of Masonry, and the one which it is trying to give to all the world.

Utopia Found? There is a place that you can find Where everyone is always kind, Where everything is harmony, Where every man is always free. No politics are spoken there, No arguments to rend the air, Where smiles glow bright on every face, A joyful and a friendly place. A place where men can do good deeds And share their lot with those with needs, But still have fun in all they do While being good and firm and true. A place where God is still revered And tyranny is never feared, A place there virtues still are taught, Where goodness is not sold or bought. "A Shangri La?" you say to me, "Why such a place can never be!" Untrue, my friend, there's one I know, A place where good men often go. And not just one, but many more, Both here at home, on distant shore, Thousands and thousands, I would guess; There might be more, but never less. They've been around hundreds of years, These places where men need have no fears, So now you ask, "Where do I go?" All right, my friend, I'll let you know. Look for a sign with compasses and square, Easily found, they're most everywhere, Just note the number and the street To know where Masons go to meet. Anon.

Great stuff. It's all great stuff and exactly what I was hoping to see.
