Greetings! I'm doing garb research this morning, going thru period manuscripts, and I came across this image of Jesus in the Vesica Piscis: I've seen such images before but I don't recall ever seeing this one in particular. It's from a Psalter, thought to be English, from about 1225, in the Pierpont Morgan Library collection, MS G.25 fol. 3r It's Jesus in the Vesica Piscis (some would say the astrological symbol, some would say the symbol of the great Cosmic Womb; both, I think, would be right). I'm sure everyone here recognizes the critters in the corners. Jesus is raising his right hand in blessing (note the three extended fingers) and holds in His left hand (note the one extended finger) an open book with the words "ALPHA ET W' P(RIMUS) & NOUISSIM(US) INITIU(M) & FINIS" from Revelation 21:6 and 22:13. He sits on an arc, with His feet on arc, in decorated mandorla. I thought I'd share ;D

The Vesica Pisces (or Vesica Piscis) is the eloquent and elegent form around which Gothic Architecture was described and constructed. A three dimensional version (based on sections of a sphere rather than upon sections of a circle) may be seen in the "sails" of the Sydney Opera House.

The number 7 was transported as a symbol to the Fama Fraternitatis, and the wedding text. The Rotund with 7 rooms each of a half circle will give you the number 1260 which is important to Chiliasts. The 7 sided vault each with 10 compartments refers to the value of each of the 7 seals times 10 and triangulated. 1260 divided by 7 = 180/180°. 420 = Age of the Father (Old Testament) 840 = Age of the Son (New Testament) 1260 = Age of the Holy Ghost

Yod-Hevah Jehova?
Yod/Yah means Hand
Genesis 3:20 states that hevah, Eve, means hayah, the "mother of all living" (Keil and Delitzsch 1975:106).
Sniffles pointed out to me that the Yod (which means hand) is sometime placed in the triangle both upstanding and inverted (male and female). The hand of God is present in all Creation.
Any Yod's appear in Vesica Piscis illustrations, especially in relation to the Virgin Mary? The first image on this thread made me wonder this. Where else do Yod's appear in Masonry?
Also heard that the particular shape of church doors is based on the Vesica Piscis.

>Yod/Yah means Hand
Maat
Do you have any references for that?
I always thought that Jah was the same as the Sumerian god Ea
Ea employed Oannes ( Jonah?) - to dredge the mouth of the Euphrates to allow trade

I always thought that Jah was the same as the Sumerian god Ea Ea employed Oannes ( Jonah?) - to dredge the mouth of the Euphrates to allow trade Cheers Russell www.hebrew4christians.com/Grammar/Unit_One/Aleph-Bet/Yod/yod.html"To screen the real mystery name of AIN-SOPH -- the Boundless and Endless No-Thing -- the Kabalists have brought forward the compound attribute-appellation of one of the personal creative Elohim, whose name was Yak and Jab, the letters i or j or y being interchangeable, or Jah-Hovah, i.e. male and female;* Jah-Eve an hermaphrodite, or the first form of humanity, the original Adam of Earth, not even Adam Kadmon, whose " mind-born son" is the earthly Jah-Hovah, mystically. And knowing this, the crafty Rabbin-Kabalist has made of it a name so secret, that he could not divulge it later on without exposing the whole scheme; and thus he was obliged to make it sacred" www.theosociety.org/pasadena/sd/sd2-1-06.htmCheers Maat

That seems to indicate that Yod (but not Yah) means hand
>the real mystery name of AIN-SOPH -- the Boundless and Endless No-Thing
I suspect we have some veiling here where the name of the supreme god An/Anu/On (descendeth he) is associated with the Causeless Cause
Masonry uses similar associations of the mythical beings with metaphysical realities. For example the association of HA, HKT and KST with the 3 pillars (in the EA TB)

I suggest reading the following:
The Temple in Man (Sacred Architecture and The Perfect Man) by R.A Schwaller de Lubicz.
Then possibly the Book of the Dead, Edgar Cayce, and finally any Maths book aimed at Trig.
Then look at the Geometry of Buildings........

as i understand it the versica goes back to fertility worship. the joining of 2 equals creating a 3rd shape. an oval symbolising the vagina as a dimentional portal trough wich we all enter this world.
in bornagain xtianity people are initiated by being pulled trough the vesica. also i understand it is the origin of the jesus fish we see on so many cars. and incidently its the basis of the flower of life.

Excellent observations, Bro. Antonious. Bro. Willied, I thought I'd let everyone know they can get free downloads of your recommended books here: The Temple in Man (Sacred Architecture and The Perfect Man) by R.A Schwaller de Lubicz. This one might take a few tries as we're having troubles with the library at NOS. However, to my knowledge, this is available nowhere else online. And it's worth the effort. Egyptian Book of the Dead. This is Budge's translation. Renouf and Naville's translation and commentary is located here. As for Cayce, Trig and architecture . . . Lordy, where to begin . . .
