As mentioned before I intend to visit a few lodges/bodies in London either this year or the beginning of next over a period of 4/5 days. So that I could visit as many meetings as possible while down there could the members here let me know what order and when they meet. I can sit in the following, Lodge, Mark, Chapter, Cryptic, Mariners, KT/KM, Rose Croix, and RCC. Thats only if they want a ginger hair and bearded, claymore weilding, kilted jock visiting them Lee, I would love to visit Brighton soon but probably not on this trip as I'll be either getting the train or flying down and would hope to stay in the one place.

Bob, I assume you will be staying over in London or close to.
Unfortunately with a small flat I cannot accomodate anyone but if you are in the London area I'd love to meet up with you. I am also a bearded Scot albeit one who has lived in Southern England for 33 years and as such is Anglicised, and have black (with a bit of grey) hair not red.
There isn't a lot happening for me in January Masonically, only Allied Masonic Degrees one Saturday. Do you have that in Scotland? It has 5 Degrees , St Lawrence the Martyr, Knight of Constantinople, Grand Tilers of Solomon, Red Cross of Babylon, Grand High Priest.

Hi Steve, I will be staying somewhere central in London during my visit, so I hope to just use the tube to get around. I'm not in the Allied but many brethren I know are members near Carlisle. There is a possibility of it coming to Scotland as our Grand scribe E has recently joined in order to see if it can be set up. I'm still not sure of the dates when I'm travelling as I suppose it would depend on how many meetings I can get to.
P.S. I did try a beard once and had so much p**s taken out of me I shaved it off.

My London trip is looking very good for the end of this year, possibly October. Probably getting the bus or train down on a Wednesday through the night and back on the following Sunday morning. I've been offered a good deal in a little B&B ( St Athan's Hotel) near Tavistock Sq in Bloomsbury. Could anyone tell me how far that is from any lodges and GQS. According to the map it is only 10cm ;D.

It's about a mile.
If you stand at the south corner of T Sq, you'll be opposite Bedford Way, you go up east side of T square and turn right into Woburn Place, keep going staight. Road will change to Russel Sq. and then Southampton Row. Easy way to explain is to keep going straight, onto Kingsway and take the right after Parker St, its a crossroads with Remnant Street. Should have a signpost for both UGLE and Kingsway Hall.

Hi Bob
As Baondi has mentioned it's only a fifteen minute walk at the most - very close.

Thanks for that Bondi and Bod, Looks like I've got a few provisional dates at the moment. I'll be looking for meetings on Thurs 29th Sept, Fri 30th Sept and Sat 1st Oct. As I'll be staying near GQS, if none of the forumites have any meetings on during those dates, I can easily arrange to visiting Lodges in the GL building.

Bob, Pelham Lodge 1303 who meet at Lewes freemasons hall have a craft meeting on the Friday .
i am sure steve will tell you that Lewes is well worth a visit is one of the oldest lodge rooms in the uk and full of atmosphere, and it is quite small and you go up a small winding staircase. It is certainly full of history and character and you can see the markings etched on the wall.
If you fancy it i would be more than happy to try to arrange it and take you to lewes from Brighton.Maybe I could have a chat to thecurator at Brighton and see if he could show you around the Temples at Brighton

Bob,
Kirby Lodge No.2818 meets on Sat 1st October - you are welcome as my guest as long as you do not sit opposite me in your KILT and keep crossing your legs <LOL>
I hope I can return some of that Scottish hospitality I received up in Edingburgh at Robbie Burns initiated Lodge.

Excellent guys, sounds good so far, however I might(hope not) have to change the meeting dates to 27th, 28th, and 29th of Oct. Would it be too much trouble to see if there are any meetings on those dates Bearing in mind that I can sit in the various other orders that I mentioned.

I'm now booked in a hotel ( 29th,30th, of Sept and 1st of Oct),approx 1 mile from GQS, where I shall endeavour to visit "Thegnostics" lodge on Saturday 1st Oct. I am also planning to join a masonic tour in central London on Fri 30 Sept at 11 am. Meeting from Bank underground station outside the Royal Exchange. Cost £5.00. Has anyone been on previous tours of this kind and could possibly elaborate. I noticed it advertised in this months edition of "The Square".

Not been on the tour but I know the man who does them - W Bro Yasha Bereseiner - knowledgeable and entertaining man. There is an article on him in the Square this month.

Bob,
You are gonna be sorry that you missed temple no 1 at Brighton.
It is amazing and in my opinion better than the most temples at GQS,
I am sure some of those here who have visited will confirm my belief,
Dont worry though, maybe next time .
You are even going to miss the the walk up the pier with a kiss me quick hat and a stick of rock .

Bod, Thanks for that, I'm aware of who he is now.
Lee, I would love to visit in Brighton, but this time I'd like keep things a bit central and not wander too far. I'll try and get down your neck of the woods next year.
