Yes, I'd' do away with the Office of Steward (servile in my opinion and outmoded) never mind raffles!

But you would still need the office of an invested Steward to be able to step in to take up a role if needed.
I presume Steve you mean doing away with being a scivvy at the FB ?

Exactly Lee. I have no wish to do anyone out of the right to stand on the first rung of the ladder and wear a Collar and Jewel and take part when required in the Ceremonies. It is the servile side I wish to abolish as an anachronism and no longer necessary in most cases as paid waiting staff can serve the food and wine, that's their job, or Brethren can buy their own wine and serve themselves as often, as much, and of the drink they like from the bottles they have paid for on the table in front of them. (Hard Cheese Doric that's what we have done for years in Brighton Lodges).
If a man pays up to £20 or even more for his meal and has guests he is entitled to sit, relax and enjoy it.

Hard Cheese Doric that's what we have done for years in Brighton Lodges I can't find a post from Doric that this refers to - has it been deleted? PS - Raffles... NO

I think the quote is on another thread about Stewards.
