Only Masons are allowed to vote if we are going to go seriously with this (Sorry Leo and Stewart, but then you can be our first initiates!!!).

Andrew
Your offer of initiation is much appreciated however if you pause for a moment you may remember that I have a problem here.
I value all of Freemasonry which is one of my reasons for not accepting any of the offers that I have received so far.
Put me in a room with the powers that be of the different fraternities and I will unite them to work more in harmony.
But for the moment it would take an awful lot of convincing to get me to join one specific fraternity. Not impossible, by any means, but I for one am looking forward to a powerful energetic initiation ceremony, so if you do have any remotely serious plans to initiate me you had better get those (balanced) esoteric skills brushed up in all of the officers involved in the ceremony. Balance and harmony, balance and harmony.

Stewart,
See you in 200 years or so then...that's how much it will take me to brush up my esoteric skills.
Mind you I have discovered the secrets of immortality so waiting is not a problem for me...

200 years is fine by me, just a fragment of time really.
Internal work, internal work, internal work, internal work, internal work, internal work. Is that sufficiently obvious a clue to help you brush up Andrew?

Much as I would like to see this happen, the 'political' realities of the masonic world would intrude - no matter what our personal feelings are on this. One option would be to have an 'event' of some sort that all members of the forum could attend. That way we get around the tricky questions of regularity and all that. Those of us who are UGLE masons could co-operate in visiting each others lodges - but I don't think we would be able to form a lodge ourselves. Unfortunately

I'm taking this in the tongue-in-cheek spirit in which it is intended and voting YES. I'm interested to know what people think is involved in running a 'virtual' lodge?

Brethren,
This in NOT meant as tongue-in-cheek. There is already a virtual Lodge, which meets in the real world 1-2 a year.
I can't find the link now, but I will do asap. It is based in the NW reion and is under UGLE.

I was sent this a few days ago by a member of internet lodge... Internet Lodge 9659 is in the Province of E. Lancs. It has a WebSite internet.lodge.org.uk We meet 3 time a year, our Installation is at Manchester (Bridge Street) meetings 3rd S. 3. 2nd S. 8.10. The Lodge URL will give you all the details of what we get up to and how to join (£45.00 p.a.)

Good Link Michael. I have "visited" this particular site before. Great place and run by Masons who really know their stuff. Proves it CAN be done. Be great if we were to get one up and running.

Please remember Internet Lodge No. 9659 is not a virtual lodge, it is a real lodge! Constituted under UGLE in the province of East Lancs, it meets 3 times a year in various locations around the country but at least once a year in East Lancs (Installation). Membership is open to all freemasons in constitutions recognised by UGLE. This is important as by joining 9659 from another constitution one becomes a subscribing member of UGLE. 9659 is a Special Interest Lodge with a difference. I doubt if any other lodge can boast such a cosmopolitan membership, and there cannot be any doubt that in time it will outstrip EIML as the largest Craft lodge under UGLE. Andrew - perhaps this is an answer to your Craftless-ness-less

I see your point Bill. "Virtual Lodge" might not be the correst word here but Andrew and the rest of us are aware of this. Mind you, new commers (to Freemasonry) may think otherwise. So, for my money it is good of you to point this out.

What I mean is... we can't all meet 'on the square', so when we talk about a 'virtual lodge' i'm not too sure what that means. Meeting together in fellowship and harmony to discuss like-minded things is what we do anyway

All,
I ma sorry my English is failing again. Must be the heat today...
My idea was of a Lodge whose members would be coming exclusively from this forum, since we know each other already, and have 1-2 only real meetings.
But have a strong web presence and do a lot of the education and fellowship online....

Your English is just fine. I would love to see your idea take off. Let's hope more people show their support.
